etrailer | Installation Guide for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2021 Toyota RAV4

After watching several of these videos and studying my 2021 Rav4 Hybrid....I just installed my Curt hitch without jacking up the car or lowering the exhaust. I did it all by myself. Recommend pre-installing the bolts to relax the threads and make it easier to install. Just pushed up one side with my hands, got my knee under the middle and pushed it up then slid a cardboard box under the middle of the hitch. After that I added some wood over the box to get the hitch up more and leveled. Soon I was able to get one bolt in. Put my cars scissor jack under the hitch and continued bringing it up until the other end started to align. Finally worked all four bolts in place and tightened it up with a 3/4 OE wrench. I'm 69 years old and am going to be pretty sore tomorrow but it's all done.

Thank you Ryan. I saw that in other’s videos they didn’t release the 3rd exhaust mount and didn’t use a strap to support the exhaust system. Your system worked much better for me. Thanks again!

Lowering the muffler is a must. Also had to cut one bolt short to fit the forward, passenger side hole. Took my wife and I almost 4 hours.

It doesnt really look like the exhaust needs to be moved IMO. Makes it a little easier to work with, but not necessary, right?

The instructions don't mention the need to lower the exhaust, we did it that way because it was easier to film the process with the exhaust lowered. It isn't necessary, but it would've been hard to see what we were doing with the exhaust in place. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/CURT/C13416.html

Such a clean, well made video, thank you very much! Just picked up my new Rav4 yesterday and looking to put a hitch on it, does etrailer ship to Canada, and do you know where this hitch is made? I believe some Curt products are made in China but others are made in the US.

What is the under clearance? Do you lose much of the center clearance I need for rough/rocky roads I'm sometimes traversing to get to my camping spots.
