In this video I talk about why Etsy banned me from their platform and shut down my Etsy store. Plus I talk a bit about how their support team completely ignored me and wouldn't help resolve the issue at all!

Although I have just started researching ETSY, I still find it odd that there are so many people who get banned and suspended. The reason is because almost everyone is shocked and has no clue as to why it happened to them. And then Etsy doesn’t reply or give reasonings to anyone until weeks later. I think Etsy needs to get their crap in order.

I agree!! Their support is known for being terrible, but it still surprised when they shut me down and completely cut off communication with me. Definitely a weird way to go about treating sellers!

Truly -- it seems like it's actually impossible to have an Etsy store? In all seriousness. It's anecdotal, I know, but 100% of the people I know (including KZbinrs I don't know personally) have been shutdown within 3 months of opening, when they have done nothing wrong. I don't know a single store that hasn't had this problem in one way or another. It seems like Etsy is just taking people's fees and then fucking off with them? (But, wouldn't it make more financial sense for them to keep the stores open? 'm so confused...)

They are Garbage! I have had enough of them! They need to go out of business! I am a Vendor/Retailer of Die-cast and Plastic Models. They claim that I cannot be posted on their platform! Because I don't make the items! Every-time I try to correct it to their standards they knock off whatever item I post! I don't make or produce these models I retailer them thru wholesalers that I purchase the models are from! Meanwhile they over charge for fees and fees on top of fees! Again let me remind you they're are other sellers on there that sell die-cast and plastic model kits and they don't make them either!

I made an etsy account the other week and researched legalities and rules to make sure I followed it correctly and then the next day after uploading my products I was banned! They will not say why either and I am not allowed to make any other accounts! It's absolute madness.

Oh wow. You reached out and they confirmed the ban? I’ve heard about a ton of people getting new accounts banned, but then you can just reach out to Etsy and they’ll confirm some things and open it back up. So if you didn’t already reach out then I definitely would!

Same here🤦🏾‍♂️,it’s just crazy and so awkward why they ban people out of the blues and without giving you a genuine reason.I had just uploaded my first product and went to sleep hoping i would blow up overnight 😅and next i woke to an email saying my account was permanently suspended and after one appeal they still didn’t give me a reason up to date

I never even sold anything! My shop was not even active yet . I was still getting some print on demand stuff on printify with my own quotes and I was permanently banned. I asked for details and they said "they can't disclose the details of the internal review". This is the greatest joke of the century.

I hear about accounts getting closed before selling anything pretty often. Usually they just need to review something and they’ll get you back up and running. I’d try to reach out again and see if you can get someone else to help you out! Unless maybe some of your listings were copyright items, they’ll take you down quick if you’re a brand new seller and trying to sell copyright stuff

The same thing just happened to my Etsy shop. 13 years old and I sell custom engraved items - no copyright designs like Disney stuff, not POD, no dropshipping, etc. Just items I engrave to order. Great sales, $15k to $20k a month with several Etsy bestsellers. No notice, no email - just suspended and like the video, I only knew because I went to ship orders and couldn't purchase labels via Etsy. Best part is, Etsy is still charging me daily for ad clicks, even though NO LISTINGS ARE ACTIVE. WT actual F is that about? I've filed an appeal but not holding my breath. I'm going to Amazon and Goimagine and reopening my own online store. Screw Etsy.

The same thing happened to me on Ebay. They are holding over $3,400 and I have to wait until the money hits my states unclaimed funds. That can take years. No explanation and no more customer service after they told me that money will not be available until it hits unclaimed funds. I feel your pain Brotha. It seems like all these issues started happening when they switched to their new payment partners Ayden.

That’s insane! I didn’t hear anything directly from Etsy, but from what I read online they hold funds for 6 months when accounts are closed. 6 months sucks, but waiting years is wild. These companies are so careless sometimes, it sucks!

I also got permanently suspended from Etsy mid last year. I’d only ever sold one original drawing in 2 years. They cited 4 reasons, non of which made sense (eg. my things weren’t handmade. All my things were my drawings or paintings.) I submitted many claims and got no help. It’s like a ‘too bad so sad’ situation. I feel your pain.

I wish I had seen this video first. The tackiness of it is unreal. They sent an email to every one of my customers who had an open order telling them I was no longer selling on Etsy. This is how I found out I was banned. They made it sound like I wasn't going to fulfill the orders. So my customers started messaging me to see if they were going to get their items. No warning at all.

Yup. The inside guys at etsy will ban sellers, if it competes with their friends. It does not matter if it is illegal or legit. We did a deep dive into etsy, and for example: they allow some people to sell cannabis seeds, then they will ban others. But it doesn't stop there. They allow actual marijuana flower to be sold on their platform which is a federal crime (this is okay with etsy) , but do not attempt to compete with them. This is a true and extreme example. If you do not have friends on the inside of etsy, you loose, you are just competition and if you are competition, you will be banned. Etsy works just like a cartel does. Until real life catches up with them. Fuck etsy.

My shop doesn’t have any listings either… There was a balance due of $0.20 but my debit card is on auto draft and they failed to charge my card! It feels love I’ve been cut off at the kneecaps before I even got started! SCREW Etsy!

It’s a good/easy source of income, you just gotta be real careful and make sure you play by their rules! I’d still recommend it, just be careful what you list so they don’t have any reason whatsoever to take you down!

Yours is one of many horrible stories of how media corporations fail to service the businesses they get rich from. It would be extremely helpful if you gave the audience some ideas as to what you think might be the cause for the suspension. What might be factors that put sellers in jeopardy. I will watch your other Etsy video next, but it would be nice to see a short series on the steps you took and the products you found successful with that store. Good luck on the next endeavor and looking forward to seeing more.

Yes it is! Etsy is known for their terrible customer service, but it’s still sad every time you see somebody shut down like that. And I will absolutely put out videos pretty soon showing how I found successful items, I have a few methods that worked really well for me. Thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate it!

I survived on Etsy for like 30 minutes xD it was kinda my own fault tho i placed a star wars 3d print that i created myself and blurred/censored the logo but apparently that's not enough. i think this was the issue but so far no confirmation about it from Etsy or a email explaining why. even when the most sold 3d prints on Etsy ar actually star wars logos they ban new sellers trying to sell stuff like this.

I have received this message in less than 3 minutes after filing an appeal. Obviously it's some sort of automation that is causing this mess. The sad part is that once you get banned, there's nothing you can do. "While we’re unable to disclose our internal review criteria or discuss your account status further, if you have questions related to your Payment Account please review Etsy’s Payments Policy. We’re unable to reconsider this decision and can no longer respond to further messages about your account status". I wonder how much money is Etsy making with these deactivated accounts....

I'm so sorry for you, I got permanently banned too and it was my main source of income (I had 98% good reviews, 30K sales but received a few complaints in the same week so they decided to ban me. Like you customer service didn't help. Etsy has also banned all my family members eventhough their shop didn't receive any complaint. Just because we live under the same roof. My boyfriend offered to let me open an account with their identity. Do you know how I could make sure his account doesn't get suspended too? Like a VPN or anything? I just want to be extra cautious.

I’m so sorry Lea, I never got a notification about your comment! Have you tried the new account yet? I’ve also been looking into this. From what I can tell you just need a new bank account, and then a different IP address. Some people have seemingly had success just using a new account on their computer, but I’m scared to try that. Haha. I’m considering getting a separate cheap laptop and maybe using the hotspot from my phone for Wifi

Hi, I’ve got the same issue. Although I’m a new seller. Just started and got banned in my first month with no explanation. My boyfriend wants to start an Etsy shop but live under the same roof and I’m afraid that he will get banned too. The buy opened a case saying the item didn’t arrive after it was delivered to her, and she opened a case and requested a refund. Etsy granted her a refund and suspended my account. I tried to contact Etsy they asked me to file an appeal and said that a specialist will look into my case but they emailed back within 20 mins saying my account is permanently suspended for violating Etsy’s Terms of Use. I don’t know what to do I have all the documents / pictures to prove that The item was delivered to the buyer within the estimated delivery time. Now it says my account is “permanently suspended” does that mean I’ll never get it back no matter what I do? I think it is so unfair and mean to me. :(

When you originally appealed the suspension, did they ever send you another email saying the appeal failed and the suspension was upheld?

Just yesterday I found out I was suspended, I put in appeal , it moved to banned and within 24 hrs permanently banned . I have no idea why. It feels just horrible and to not know why . I buy the majority of my beads for my handmade items from Etsy so that was shut down . Nobody will answer me.

Yeah unfortunately any new account you make will get suspended. You’ll need to make an account with someone else’s social and I’ve also heard if you connect to the same Wifi they’ll suspend you too, so you’ll need to use a mobile device using cellular service, or a different wifi network

Walmart seller support is just as bad. I set up an account and was going through the process of setting up my store info and it kept telling me that my tin info was wrong which is the same info i have used for every other platform and havent ever had a problem, after i submitted my company info they disabled my account and said that my application had been denied but gave zero explanation of why. I created a second account so i could get in contact with support thinking i had messed up my federal tin information and after giving them a copy of my irs papers they disabled my second account and once again didnt give any explaination why, so i sent an appeal asking why and i got the generic your business doesnt meet our requirements...like, what requirements exactly?

There's people out there with 20+ copyright strikes with their account still active. Etsy doesn't outline a clear amount of "allowed" violations but you can definitely get some without having your account removed.

If you want to know why your Etsy store was shut down, maybe share some of the designs. Probably copyright infringement? That's the number 1 reason for Etsy store closures.

That’s wild! I know they refund customers if customers reach out and ask. So those customers must’ve asked for a refund. They refunded 4-5 of my customers but most of them stayed. Only way I could get in touch with Etsy was by emailing their legal team from a different email address not associated with my account. Try that!

@@JseBckThe same thing happened to me. Right I now I have around $8500 on reserve but Etsy is refunding the customers one by one. And my shop was new lots of my packages are on the way. All of them has tracking number. The weird thing is I never get any money for these orders! There was only one day to release my reserve! It is shocking and not ethical at all.

That’s crazy! This is the worst time of the year for that to happen too. They refunded a few of my orders, but I believe it was only if the customer asked. I think some customers probably check your store and see that it’s gone so they panic and request a refund. They shouldn’t refund all the orders though. I read online that they release your money after 6 months, but once almost 8 months went by I still didn’t get it so I reached out to their legal team ([e-mail] I think) and “magically” the money was sent to me the next day.

@@JseBck Someone said in one of the groups I'm in, to email them every day until you get a response. I guess they had a strategy of a numbers game. Where eventually someone will help them. I'm not sure how well it works, but I will be trying this myself, as well. I wish you good luck with the decision you choose.
