I literally opened my store up last Wednesday. Made my first sale and immediately got suspended without an email communication. I put in an appeal stating I had no idea what I did wrong. I had to search for myself on what the possible issue could have been. I had to further verify my bank info to receive the deposit and all that Jazz. I put in the code and waited about 2 more days and on Sunday in the evening my shop was back up and running! Two hours later, my account was suspended again after publishing more items that don’t violate policy, I woke up Monday morning to an email stating that my account was now permanently suspended with no specific reason given. This is an absolute nightmare. Trying to get in touch with customer service is literally a joke. No one can tell me what I did wrong, but I’m suspended. Such a notable company, with lack of customer service is alarming. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement. This whole situation pushed me to build my own website. Update everyone! Earlier last week I received an email from Etsy finally responding to my pleas and stated that my shop was suspended in error and was reopened. I’m back up & running on Etsy, but will continue with my website as well. I guess it takes about a month to look into their error.

You must be psychic. I am a website professional and decided to open an Etsy shop for selling tech-related POD stuff to see if stuff sells before launching a website to do it. I actually have had very similar fears for a long time because of stories like that but it's been three years and I'm still kicking! I think you really need to do some things wrong to get kicked off. But also an important reminder not to put all of your eggs in any one basket! That's why I have a mockup digital download store and make videos here on KZbin, that way I have multiple incomes coming in just in case anything ever happens to any of them

Nope. Not so. I opened a shop and was suspended before even listing one thing. I appealed and received an email that it was in error, and that my account would be reinstated. Great. So the next day, I went to log in again and have an email stating that my account was permanently banned! I thought, "this HAS to be a mistake! I don't even have a listing up yet!" So I emailed them again and they responded that no, I am permanently banned for having "too many risk factors." WHAT??? I am a 63-year-old grandmother, living in the US, nothing sketchy or nefarious about me or my life. But I am banned, cannot contact them in any way, for absolutely NOTHING. Etsy is great for a TINY percentage of people and to make it sound so easy is a disservice. People need to hop on message boards and learn the truth about the nightmare that is Etsy.

The same happened to me. A fresh shop in vacation mode, no sales, no listings. They suspended the shop a week after it was created. I appealed and they reinstated the shop with the explanation that it was a mistake. This made me wary and I didn't add products to the shop, leaving it in vacation mode. And I was right. A month later, Etsy blocked my account completely. I appealed again, which was denied. I received a response to my appeal that did not contain any real facts, that I allegedly violated some Etsy policies and I should go and read them. But I still do not understand what exactly was violated and this was not indicated in the response to my appeal. I also managed to make several purchases of digital goods on Etsy from this account and now they are unavailable, I can no longer download them. All this, coupled with the practice of non-refunds, suggests that Etsy is engaged in some kind of fraudulent practices under the guise of concealing information and baseless accusations of its customers of all sins

I don't even know what I violated because in my mind, I haven't violated anything. I checked my listings, etc...but I can't figure it out. I am waiting to hear back from them. I just had a few students get their shops back after getting "permanently banned" so there for sure is hope! A few of them had to file a few appeals and even complain to the BBB before they got their accounts back but they got them, so don't give up if this is something that you really want! And hopefully Etsy will change the systems so this stops happening to innocent shops soon

Another great video. Got my account suspended after being open for two weeks, submitted an appeal stating i hadn't done anything wrong. A couple of hours later i realized my VPN usage might've gotten me flagged so i sent a message to them stating that. Then i settled in for what i expected to be a two week wait. I received a permanent suspension on Etsy about 2 years ago. I had posted a digital collage for sale. I was always under the impression that a collage fell under "fair use" (think the digital version of creating an image with magazine clippings). After getting the suspension notice (which gave no reason), I sent an email requesting an explanation... I never received anything. Here it is 2 years later and I thought I'd try to get to the bottom of it. Etsy says I had 6 mo. to appeal, but because I didn't, I have no recourse... insane!

After contacting bbb and filing a complaint, she got an email from etsy who said that the account was suspended indefinitely in error and would be reinstated. And it was shortly after, thank God. This is a poor business model for etsy as this kind of false suspension and the way they notify the account holder is extremely disheartening and potentially kills ambitions and dreams for small business owners who have the widest reach with etsy. They need to change this process.

I just created a store, got banned, didn't get told why, I appealed and got permanently banned, still don't know why. Which led me here. I'm sure I didn't violate anything. I tried what you said and used the email address and got a reply saying the inbox wasn't monitored. Ie. They won't read it and do anything because they won't see it. Where on earth can I go from here? They said any other accounts associated with me would be suspended too and I'd never be able to even buy from Etsy again. I've had a personal account for buying for 10 years, and another store for a year. Are they both going to get suspended too? That etsy support email doesn't exist now. If you email it, you get a message back that it is an unmonitored address and you won't receive a reply. There is LITERALLY no way to contact them.

I was surprised at how fast they answered me, I got an email 12 hours later saying they were "sorry" but that it's permanently suspended for violating terms of use (still nothing specific). They said if I thought this was an error to reply to that email. Now I play the waiting game. I've gone through my listings (still have access to) & removed anything that could've been misconstrued as violating their terms (though I'm still not sure what I did). In my first 45 days or so as a shop, I had 7 sales and a few 5 star reviews. The waiting is killing me because all the videos I'm watching say it could be days or weeks, OR MONTHS until I hear back. What other POD Shops do you suggest/promote for beginners?

The exact same thing happend to me. I got a canned/ generic response within 24 hours of my appeal denying my appealing and offering no reason for my account being permanently suspended. I am so upset/ frustrated.

So I started my account a week ago, and have been very excited about my Etsy shop, so I have been creating and listing items from Printify to Etsy, and today my shop got suspended. They notice on my Etsy account says I would receive an email why it was suspended, but I never received one. Even checked my spam folder. I submitted the appeal to Etsy. Hi Cassidy. Thank you for posting this video. I have opened an Etsy account for items we make with our laser. The products are completely original and are not in the banned section. The very next day I was informed by the big red banner that the account was suspended and there was a button that offered a option to file an appeal. The questions were generic stating that the name of the account, my name etc. The next day I was given an email stating the account does not qualify for reinstatement. Yea definitely a scam! Etsy made a new update that any message from them will be in the “From Etsy” section of your inbox! Same boat here. I was up a few months, just starting to get sales and BAM, suspension for no clear reason. I make or design everything, no IP infringement or anything, all my info correct, and they denied the appeal in five minutes so I know no real human actually looked at my shop on appeal. Hi Cassidy , I love your videos ! I’ve been selling on Etsy for 15 years and have multiple shops . Last November I was inspired by one of your videos and wanted to add some printed merch for my crochet designs , using prinify. My shop was closed within 30 minutes, and after filing an appeal my shop was permanently suspended after “careful study of my case” within one hour , I apprehend again a couple of months later . Then I got red banner with permanent disabling of my shop stating that I failed to appeal within 6 months so now I can’t open any new stores . Same thing happened to me a 3 months ago. I have had one store for 18 months with no issues. I opened a second and third store within 10 days of each other with listings ready to go. I had got approval from etsy that I was basically good to go, then both shops were suspended at the same time; one temporarily and one permanently! I appealed and got a reply that one shop was permanently suspended after "careful study of my case". I waited and have appealed to both around 4 times now. I am sending them a lawyer's letter this week. I was told you can ask for the "Adjustment Report" which shows why you have been suspended and they have to provide it, yet they have ignored this. Someone else said they reported them to the Ombudsman (I think that's what they said) and sent a lawyer's letter and their shop was reinstated immediately..... It's dreadful how they handle these issues - oh, and they charged me $19 for one shop and $29 for the second shop - anyone know why two different amounts and why not the $15 as many people have stated? They took my passport copy and facial biometrics as well, so clearly, I'm not a scammer! So frustrated with Etsy right now!

I was suspended for no reason. I wasn't given an explanation, nor was I given an opportunity to fix any problems. The thing is, I knit and crochet and all of my designs are my own. I filed an appeal and it was denied in less than 2 hours. I can't recover it. I was with them since 2012. I was actively selling until about the beginning of 2018, and then took a hiatus. I recently reopened my shop and after about 30 items, they decimated my shop.

You didn't do anything wrong, it's just that an Etsy employee had a bad day or something. I'm going through exactly the same thing - a permanent ban without any given reason, and knowing that I didn't do anything that violates their policies. Very frustrating.

Well... as a totally newbie, I made the newbie mistake setting my store in US, but Im actually in Europe (what I correctly set in my billing and personal details). My account got suspended and the appeal was closed with permanent ban, stating that no further details and communication will be possible. The question: they already have my personal and bank account information. I would definitely file an appeal right away! Some people get their shops back right away while others get told it's suspended forever and just keep filing a few appeals until they get it back! As long as you didn't violate something unknowingly then you should be good to get it back! I would triple check that all your personal info and banking info is correct in the meantime!

I got the same answer as you. My store was banned in December. I was selling on Etsy since october. After two weeks, when someone from Etsy reviews your appeal, they will immediately close it with no response. And either your store will be unbanned or you will receive a perm ban. You will most likely be unbanned because when I set up my first store, I had the same situation and I was unbanned. But now they banned me again. So much time and money wasted on Etsy...

That is really frustrating! I am sorry this happened to you. There is another option that I've seen work for other people if you're still interested. 1. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau 2. Make a post about it on Twitter sharing your Etsy shop name and what happened and then get as many people to retweet it as you can. This has helped multiple people I know with big issues on Etsy.

Hi Cassiy, I tried the Help Center but it said that "the account doesn't have an issue eligible for appeal" so I tried sending an email as you suggested. I got an email back right away stating that the inbox is not a "monitored" inbox. I'm wondering if you think that means no one will read the email or that It just might take longer to get a response? I've checked all my email folders and I don't have an email nor do I have any idea why they suspended the account. My account was suspneded on 5/1/2024 for no reasons. I filed an appeal on the same day and my appeal was denied two hours later. About 7 days later, on my Etsy shop dashboard, I was given the option to file an appeal again. I filed the appeal using a different explanation and my appeal was denied again within a few hours after I filed the appeal. About 10 days later, I was asked to file the appeal again and I filed it and a message was displayed on my dashboard saying that a specialisl would review my case within 2 weeks. This time I did not get a response. A few days ago, I was asked to file an appeal again. I am under the impression that I would only get one chance to file an appeal and this is my foruth appeal. Don't worry this just happened to me too. I spent 7 hours learning the site and how to sell on it and also setting up relations with my supplier and within 24 hours of opening the store it get's suspended with no email telling why. I sent in an appeal saying they made a mistake and they say "nope its still banned and we're still not going to tell you why". So I'm giving up with Esty and taking my business somewhere else.
