Hi Daniel, unfortunately returns and cancellation are mandatory for European sellers and for those who sell to European buyers. Do you sell to Europe? How do you manage your returns policy? I liKe your videos very much!

Hi Daniel, great to have another U.K. tuber. I watched your Cassie interview and have a question on the currency. I I’m set to usd and hate the 2.5 percent charge but I worry about prices looking wired after conversion or not being as much in control of the price the customer sees, I wondered if you’d ran in to any issues or how you make sure you are priced competitively once converted to usd on the customer end..I don’t think I’d even be able to see what they see would I? I hope that makes sense!

Great question! Managing currency conversion on Etsy can indeed be a bit tricky. Setting your shop to USD is a common choice for broader reach, but as you mentioned, it comes with that conversion charge if you're not US-based. Regarding what your customers see, Etsy automatically converts your prices to the buyer's local currency. While you might not see the exact amount they see, you can get a good estimate by using currency conversion tools. And I don't think you need to worry about prices looking 'weird' after conversion. From my experience, customers are used to seeing varied prices due to currency differences and added taxes like sales tax. Focus on setting a fair base price in your currency; customers value your product's quality more than perfectly rounded prices. Trust in your product's value - your customers will too! 🌍💲🛒 Let me know if you ever have any other questions!

Sorry and one more question…do you plan to keep growing your Etsy shop over the VAT threshold or will you aim to keep just under and supplement elsewhere? That VAT is a killer!!

Hi! I’m planning to start selling on ETSY. Is it okay to sell different types of niches that I like?

Hey there! Great question. Starting out on Etsy can be an exciting journey, and it’s totally understandable to want to explore different niches that interest you. While specializing in one niche has its benefits, there’s also a lot of value in exploring a variety of niches, especially when you’re just beginning. I think the ou key is to find a balance. You want your store to feel cohesive, even if you’re selling items in different niches. Think about what unifies your products. It could be a consistent design style, a common theme, or even a unique way of presenting your items. This helps your store to have a recognizable identity, even with a diverse range of products. Also, keep an eye on what works best for you. As you start selling, you’ll learn which niches resonate more with your audience and where you find the most enjoyment and success. Over time, this can naturally lead you to focus more on certain areas, but in the early stages, experimentation can be incredibly valuable.

Thanks I was wondering these questions! Funny too :) I'm just starting a store now and don't plan to accept returns without a reason but I was wondering if that might hurt me since I don't have a lot of sales yet. If you have any advice for shop for brand new stores I'd love to know what you think to get the ball rolling. Like do you need to be super cheap at first to compete? Or buy some of your own products to review it? Or I noticed a trick where people sell a babysuit version of something to make it look cheaper in the search results then the actual adult shirt is like $20 more. I don't love it but I'm wondering if you have to do things like that to be competitive. Will check out your other videos too to see if you answered any of this yet. Thanks so much this is awesome!

Thanks so much for your kind words! And great to hear you're starting your own store! Regarding returns, having a clear and fair policy is key, even if you're not accepting returns. As for pricing, it's not necessary to be super cheap, even when you're just starting out. I didn't go for the low cost option when I first got started. Focus instead on offering value and quality that justifies your price. Think about some brands that you buy things from and what makes you buy them! I would not recommend buying your own products and posting reviews. Etsy's systems are quite smart and will often pick up that it's you leaving the review. There's a chance they will suspend your store, so I wouldn't go down that route. As for using tricks like listing cheaper items to appear in search results, I'm personally not a big fan of this approach, but I see it work for other sellers. I think it's better to build a trustworthy brand. Authenticity and transparency in your product listings will build long-term customer trust and loyalty. There are many ways to be competitive without resorting to misleading practices. Keep focusing on quality, great customer service, and effective SEO strategies. Best of luck with your new venture!

@@EtsyDaniel Thank you so much for your advice. That makes sense re the reviews lol. I just thought if no one wanted to buy something from a store with few sales/no reviews, then how to get the ball rolling. Mine's a POD store too I just want people to see that the product looks like the picture when it gets to their door, but I guess I can put those pictures in the listing instead or get my friends to buy and review from their own houses. Just so people can see. Or maybe not. Maybe I'll just keep going lol. I totally agree about the listing cheaper options. I keep considering it just because I see so many successful stores doing it but it feels pretty gross. Plus it's a waste of time, the designs aren't even always for kids. And I have to think people must notice what they're doing! Will try just focusing on my brand/SEO first, thank you :)
