Something that is not quite obvious from the Tooltip: Consolidate Power in the Doge gets rid of the 4-year election cycle, they now rule for life, so make sure to actually elect the best candidate

If you landlock the balkan provinces and take one Bulgarian core and let rebels spawn and siege you province they will go to ottoman lands and you can take back control of the province and release Bulgaria. If you are lucky the separatists will enforce their demands and you can take much more in the second war

I always liked Venice and I love the detail to the guide to them you gave. Have you ever thought of doing a campaign with another player? Like Pravus and Chewy doing a campaign together where if one ruler or leader dies then the other would play tell the other leader dies. And they would go back and forth. I think it would be interesting to see how you might play with other players, whether better or worse.

Remember: Don't use transport ships in naval battle, they only make you lose battle faster in majority cases. If you are small country Baltic/Mediterranean Free Oarsmen is nearly always better, for me Ship Boarding often give me only outdated ships of category i don't really need.

What I did was very similar, except 1) I went to war with Genoa at like the same time I declared on Byzantium, then took Genova and its center of trade for myself; 2) both Epirus and the Ottos declared on Byzantium after I had conquered their lands; and 3) I vassalized Byzantium except for Constantinopoli, then called in Austria and Hungary to beat up the Ottos while I trapped most of their army on Corfu with my fleet. It's almost 1500 and I just incorporated Bulgaria and Herzegovina, I'm annexing Byzantium now, I own most of Northern Italy and Yugoslavia in addition to my holdings in the Aegean, the Crimean Peninsula, and Thrace, and I'm making boatloads of ducats. Venice is fun!

I would say florence is the richest from the intrest per annum alone you can get half a million ducats in loans and a positive balance by 1500 with florence it's pretty crazy, you can build manufacturies in every state and be locked out of the others by tech rather than money

Nice video as always. Have couple of questions: 1) did u consider moving capital to istria, releasing couple of provinces as vassals and trade cities and forming dalmatia from the start? Their NI are quite OP esp for italian region 2) u can as well concentrate dev in venice culture states and with less dev and high relations with austria u can join HRE

1) I thought this was a Venice video, not Dalmatia 2) You don't need to release anything to join hre as Venice, usually I join while still fighting Byzantium (join, then peace out and annex BYZ)

Friendly reminder: always declare the reconquest war for the nation that has the most cores in your objective, since otherwise it'll cost you more AE and war score, if I'm not mistaken

It won't cost extra AE and dip if you use the return cores tab for your other vassal in the peace deal.

In reconquest wars, you should only directly cede provinces if used that particular subject's CB. Otherwise, just use the return province tab. You can easily check by looking at the diplo cost. Anyways, great guide, as always

I recommend holding on to the war a little longer and landlocking the Balkans side of the ottomans- you can provoke rebels on bulgarian provinces, then pop out bulgaria so they siege ottomans land, and because that side is landlocked they cant get any troops there to fight the rebels and and he will have no choice but to cough up bulgaria as well

They had only 10k troops total than myself but less than when i declared with austria and the knights. I don't know if its the curry mechanic or just me but it seems harder to call in allies since i got leviathan. Austria was kinda useless, Byzantium was crushed, i was kicked out, the knights were no were to be found and tunis wouldn't go away. iron man is one hell of a difficulty spike.

They can still cross as long as you didn’t siege down their fort on the other side of the strait. This is why he recommends declaring war when they are pre occupied in a Anatolian war and to barrage the fort.

How do merchants work with pushing trade and collecting? I was watching the Florence guide and you had two merchants pushing to Genoa, but none collecting. Are you still receiving money if you aren’t collecting with a merchant?

You only gain a small percentage of trade power, it helps but more often than not it's worth less than steering from upstream nodes.

Every time I do the war with Byzantium as Venice I never struggle with keeping my economy in the positive. And I have full army, naval and fort maintenance (but I always delete the fort in Spalato at the start )

I think it is still the same, but I'm not completely sure. You just need to not be a merchant republic anymore or become a regular republic and you're fine. It's just the merchant republics that were limited on the amount of provinces they could hold.

That’s the reason why here the treaty of campoformio is so hated: with venice under the austrians we had to fight the wwi to gain veneto, friuli venezia giulia, istria and dalmazia (never given because of americans. even if it was promised by england and france for the help in the war. I don't play trade republics much, but I'm pretty sure it gives a goods produced buff and their trade power. You can potentially make more money than owning their lands directly, but it can be a pain to deal with. I would probably only consider it if those nations are out of reach for the time being and the just gobble them up later when you actually have the opportunity to do so.

After vassallizing Byzantium, wait until they attack someone in Anatolia and then declare war while their troops are outside the Balkans and siege down everything. Make sure to bomb and assalut the fort in Gelibolu immediately, which should also be your war objective for the ticking warscore, and to keep your fleet in the sea or Marmara so the Ottomans can't cross.

If you want to form Italy, I would recommend staying Catholic. Italy is very highly developed, so you'll have a ton of papal influence and you will be able to make full use of the papal interactions and even become curia controller. There are also some nice monuments like the Duomo of Milan and Saint Peter's Basilica, which give bonuses for papal influence, resistance to the Reformation and clergy loyalty, and the latter also gives an idea discount, but it requires you to be Catholic. If you don't want to form Italy, I would recommend going Reformed, as it gives more trade bonuses than Protestant and also gives more tolerance of heretics, so you don't have to worry about converting your provinces if you don't want to.

To be fair, writing guides for a mixture of dlcs or no dlcs is not helping most players with dlcs either. The game without dlcs is so drastically different you'd have to make a separate video and potentially even a separate channel, so the KZbin algorithm doesn't destroy you... And you'd need to enjoy playing without dlcs, which I personally for example, don't
