The pacing, storytelling and voice make it quite enjoyable ! Quick question though, I am at 12:30 and you annex Iraq, wouldn't it be better to vassalize and reconquest its core ? Or do you consider vassals as ally ?
@rooosgamingden2 ай бұрын
Glad to hear it! I like Trebizond a lot, so I'm happy that it's getting some love. I definitely could have vassalized Iraq there, that probably would have been a good idea. I don't think vassals break the ally rule - we end up vassalizing AQ towards the end of the run with Persia's cultural influence mechanics.

If you enable "slacken recruitment standards" the event giving flat manpower and the muslim -75 piety one gets a huge boost from manpower. As it applies the +200% manpower recovery speed to the equation. Best part: you can just disable the slackening after taking the event/piety actuon, making it 1 army professionalism for a 3-4 times higher number of manpower you would otherwise get.

These are great! I'm loving the presentation style and the total reframing of the mechanics. After 1.5 thousand hours I haven't played seriously in well over a year, but this might just make me interested again. I'd be curious to hear your mental picture of the reality on the ground, sometimes- you mentioned an RP focus, and it would be cool to hear you expand on that, as hard as that might be to pull off naturally. While a lot of dots can be connected through the gameplay, and the videos are already long, I wonder if you could get away with a small series if you kept up an RP (or story-driven or whatever you like) narrative and made judicious edits. Either way, I don't think many people in the interested community would complain about a few fanciful embellishments.
@rooosgamingdenАй бұрын
Thanks, glad you like them! I think in some ways EU4 isn't a great game for pure RP narration because it's so buggy and janky at times, and I like being able to point out some of that silliness. But I'll definitely keep your point in mind going forward and think about narrative/storytelling opportunities. Thanks again for the feedback.

Having no allies is sadly a given for many tags, where there aren't many worthwhile nations to ally with. But restricting yourself to Qizilbash and roleplay ideas was seriously impressive, especially when facing Ottomans, France and a powerful Russia in the same war! Offensive + trade and quantity would have been more conventional pick but your army quality in the end was really insane
@rooosgamingden2 ай бұрын
True. There aren’t many good Shia allies early (Bahmanis is probably the best you can get, and if you’re playing in the Middle East that’s pretty much just a defensive shield) and there are plenty of other tags in that same boat. Glad you enjoyed the run!

If you put restrictions on yourself the late game can still be a challenge (for example, in my no army run, the late game was harder in some ways than the early game). But for normal runs usually I’ve accomplished what I wanted by 1600-1650 and I end it there. Glad you enjoyed the videos!

I’m not great at army micro. I can get away with that for the most part in single player, but I’m sure I would get demolished in mp.
@cbalpha12 ай бұрын
@@rooosgamingden The attachment mechanical is a little scuffed (last I played the game in 1.35), particularly with mercs, but it works okay with regular armies. A lot of your battles are going several rolls with only partial front lines and you end up with infantry on the flanks and cav sandwiched in the line, so I'd give it a try in the future. Particularly, when you're facing hard fights. Alternatively, make a template of your smaller stacks, then just merge them all before the battle and after use the conform to template button to separate them back out easily. For 3 or more stacks, merge into doom stack and then separate back out with the template button is the easier option as sometimes it can get confusing which army is the "top" army for attaching.

So imagine if a nation is run by single, immortal, capable person, no wonder it always ends so well.
