From someone who has had these cameras for over a month, DO NOT BUY. Battery on cam at 14% after 31 days , 365 days is a lie. Cameras also take about 8-10 hours to charge. They miss so much movement. Sorry I bought them now instead of a POE system. These will break your heart.

I liked the longer style video, Eric! I just switched from Arlo Pro cameras to Eufy 2C. My biggest reasons from swapping was no subscription and also the future support for HSV. So far I’m happy with the switch and I now have 4 cameras. I’m also beta testing HSV on one of my eufy cams. I can’t give specifics, but I will say that the addition of HSV is not “limiting.”

I don't think so. In that case it's probably best to tie this camera system with a eufy Security system where you can easily use that keypad and or app to arm/disarm cameras + security when needed. I'll talk more about this in a future video.

Yes. Invite your friend to be another user, she sets up her own account and accepts your invite. In your settings which devices need to be away and you’re all set. I’ve just done it. Whether it’s reliable is another matter.

Just picked up a Eufy Cam 2 package of the Homebase 2 and two cams. Setup was a breeze. HOWEVER, I'm HUGELY disappointed in the range. Only about 30 feet away through two walls and the reception dropped to zero. And this is having the Homebase near the front of the house where the camera is. If that's the case, then the rear porch cameras will have zero chance of connecting. Unless they've figured out a way to boost the signal, the Eufy Cam 2 has just become a non-starter for me.

So the master account can create slave accounts to have specific access to the other cameras. For instance I have a master account and my wife has a slave account, she can only view cameras and not play with the settings. To Create slave accounts the master account has to input an email address for slave accounts, and that person then needs to follow the link in the email to create an account.

Great review. Just subscribed to your channel. Question. Is there a way to enhance the push notifications so that they are louder at night so I can hear them in Alexa or in the phone ? (Via the app or an Alexa skill). I have a google nest camera and it can not be done and then notifications at night are just useless because IOS doesn’t allow to change sound or volume.. I’d appreciate your comments.

There’s not an easy answer here. If you have an old phone or tablet lying around you could use it to just get camera notifications and turn up the volume on it in your bedroom.

I'm not sure the specific wireless protocol, but the hub communicates directly to the cameras. If you need to get your hub closer to the cameras, the hub can connect to your network via Wi-Fi after initial setup.

Yes. The eufycam 2 will stop. The original eufycam 1 home base has a back up battery in it and if power goes out it will still work for a period of time.

Eric, great video as always. I almost went with the Eufy cam system for a new house we're building. They almost had me with the no cloud recording AND the ability to RTSP stream to a NAS. Here's what killed it for me though. 1. I've gone through and planned a great and robust wifi setup, but these wireless cameras only use the wifi created by their own basestation. That is sad when I seriously though these would just use the house's WiFi network like a Logi Circle, Netatmo Presence, or most other WiFi cameras. 2. The system only allows you up to 5 cameras. I'm not saying that every house needs 50 cameras, but I could easily have 7 or 8 cameras around my house and property to cover any dead spots and it is not a huge house. Arlo has the same limitation, I believe. The limits on total number of cameras along with the connectivity limitation makes me think that these (and other similar systems from Arlo, Logitech, Ring, etc.) are more for checking-in-on-the-kiddos cameras as opposed to a layer of one's overall home-defense strategy. One feature that I love about these types of camera systems that I don't really see on "real" security systems is the ability to disarm/arm the cameras when you're home. I completely understand not wanting an interior camera rolling when you're home. One, it could be creepy, and two, it shortens the battery life to keep being motion triggered a million times. Has anyone else tried to decide between these or PoE cams (like, did anyone choose this over Unifi Protect, for instance)?

I think with Arlo or Eufy’s approach is that you could have multiple base stations. In that case you are probably covering a large enough area where a single base station’s signal couldn’t reach the whole property and all cameras anyway. Unfortunately eufy doesn’t yet have continuous power to cameras like Arlo’s solar panels. Personally I haven’t played with POE cameras or Ubiquity cameras or Wi-Fi.

If the internet is off the home base light goes to red and the cameras will not work, even if a separate router is used, so I assume the Home base must have to communicate online to work that is why there is a delay on Ipad or phone when checking. Past recordings are kept.

In that case you might look at Eufy's newer 2K resolution cameras. More pixels probably means more ability to detect motion, especially if you use the Eufy app to monitor that instead of HomeKit Secure Video which is still capped at 1080p

Thank you for the review. My question. I am looking at setting up a system for basic viewing around the outside of our home. I am concerned about distance to the hub. We have a multiple level concrete house with 6 entrances on the various levels. It is a common problem to have issues with wifi reaching all of the home. I wonder if this will be the same. Is it possible to run a second hub or any type of extender for larger homes? Would you recommend a different brand for this situation? Thanks!

Good video. I wish you showed what you were referring to about arlo’s rich notifications. I have the Eufy and am extremely impressed. I dont care to pay for hksv or additional icloud storage so the 16gbs suffice for me. Getting live feed notifications seems like it would be awesome. None of the Eufy doorbells seem to be homekit compatible and the wired one wont work with existing chime so i am planning on getting the adt blue. Maybe you can see how other Eufy cams work when you do your next review. From what i recall only the base was set up to homekit, so shouldnt all cams connected to the base be viewable?

I heard that all Eufy devices can only work if you have 2 separate bands, 2.4g and 5g, at home. IF you have a mesh network that combines 2.4g and 5g into one SSID then their devices will not work. True ? Anyone ?

I connect my eufyCam 2 cameras to a hub that is connected to my network with Ethernet. I also have a pan and tilt Eufy camera that is connected on Wi-Fi with my dual band Eero network and it works well.

One thing which I didn't notice was some type of objective research related to the range of the cameras and base unit. (rhetorical) How far from the base will these cams function in a real world scenario, 10M, 20M, thru what type of structure? I noted on Amazon that there were several complaints of very (impractical) short ranges. I really like this product but I have doubts on the range of the cameras to the base station. Did you ever test how far the camera can operate away from the base station? If not, is there a way to test my wifi strength in order to give some sense of confidence of this product to deliver. My distance will be 70 feet away from the base station.

I just returned this to best buy. Mine around 45ft away from the hub caused alot of in and out video. Reason i returned mine was because the motion sensor didn't activate reliably and there was an audio bug that sounded like thumping when things were quiet.

Base station V2 that I got with my doorbell has no slot, 16GB built-in internal storage. I have not read any indication of external drive/storage. (The USB connector is to charge the doorbell unit).

It is similar to IFTTT in that you can set automations if motion is detected or stops being detected. But unlike IFTTT, HomeKit can also add other conditions and actions.
