Small point. Usain Bolt's foot is still in the air in that photo and is not lod bearing. I realise that he is clearly slowong down at the end of a relay race, however, it is worth noting that the ideal sprinting technique (and Bolt's technique) involves contacting the ground directly below the COM in upright running. Nevertheless, it is important to train in lots of positions but i just wanted to point out this is not sprint specific.

sissy squat. you gotta be careful with that, it works a different muscle of the quads than leg extensions. start off with reverse nordic curls etc to build that strength in the knees and quads, then do them assisted. eventually if you can hit it right you'll have very healthy knees and functional quads

As a track runner yes that position is important in many other sports but not track, that picture of bolt is after he’s past the line slowing down, so its kinda useless in track. Because normally when striking the ground you want your foot to be under not in front.
@jonathonsayre4879
@jonathonsayre4879 Ай бұрын
Bracing for the slowdown, same thing ATG talks about. You do that little stomp thing to slow down from a good sprint. I agree that's probably the ONLY use for track for this kinda thing but wrestling and other lunging movements sounds awesome.

Its probably the only way to get a weighted stretch on that hip flexor. So whilst the flexibility is useless and hammies and glutes can be hit in a different way like deadlifts. It'll probably increase the psoas contraction speed significantly. Which is probably more of a limiting factor than things that get trained conventionally like glutes and ham strings.

I swear, this kind of contraction in the knee in an elongated stance like this distracts my hip joint. I feel like theres a whole hidden genre(?) of movements like this where action in one joint acts upon the surrounding joints like that.

@@hectortorcatt6559 the brand is actually Lems 👍 I wouldn’t call them true barefoot boots, but they are zero drop minimalist boots that have a wide barefoot shoe style toe box and are very flexible for a boot with a thicker sole than a barefoot boot but much thinner than a traditional boot. They are insulated, so a perfect minimalist boot for the winter time but not so insulated you can’t wear them year round. If you can’t tell, I recommend em 😂 ✌️

Nice exercise, big fan. I do unloaded isos for hip mobility in hurdles and for injury prevention. A lot of track people are really stuck on the pic of bolt as he’s decelerating but i dont know why we aren’t realizing the obvious transfer to top end sprinting here.
