It is because you are my hero and mentor sir and you have to live for all of us. We are praying for your long life. Sir I am impatiently waiting for your next video after Bernoulli principle. Sir can you tell me what is your upcoming video about? It is up to you whether you tell me or you want to give up surprise in the upcoming days. This channel is my most favorite channel. One thing I want to ask . There is a channel on KZbin named Efficient Engineer . Is this your channel or one of your favorite pupils have made this channel? "And this is the first and only time that the nuclear briefcase of either country has been activated" "Note: This video was made in 2016" That's a bit disturbing. The only way to make that even worse is if the note said "This video was made in November 12, 2016."
@EugeneKhutoryansky8 жыл бұрын
I added that note just in case the nuclear brief case is activated again in the future, in which case the statement will no longer be accurate. Though, I don't think this will happen in the next two months, so I didn't think that noting the specific day of the year was necessary.

A retaliatory strike isn't just a form of revenge. It's mainly about neutralizing the enemy's nuclear weapons and military facilities. People seem to think that cities and population centers would be the first or main targets, but I don't think that's the case.
@52flyingbicycles5 жыл бұрын
BroadcastDr considering the indiscriminate nature of nukes and military bases’ proximity to cities, civilian centers will be hit regardless. In WWII the biggest targets of firebombing (and the only 2 nukes ever used in warfare) were industrial centers with large civilian populations. If you destroy their military bases but not their factories, they’ll just build more tanks. Besides, fixed nuclear sites are only one part of the triad. Enemy submarines and pre-deployed bombers can still strike you even if you hit all their silos and airstrips. They can also just fire any nukes in the silos you target while your missiles are in the air. Bottom line, nuclear war has no winners. The only way to win is not to play.

My value assessment of humanity as whole is mired in much internal conflict. On one hand, I see many beautiful and hopeful things by and for humanity, while on the other hand, I see things which make me wonder whether it would be any wise for humanity to persist on Earth, let alone permanently inhabit anything beyond it. My hope is that humanity becomes the wiser and it begins to truly preserve the beautiful and the good that generates in me and most others the profoundly happy feelings about our future as whole.

Simple fix if the problem with the Mutually Assured Destruction is that neither side can be 100% sure whether or not the other has launched is to allow by treaty observers from the other side to provide a level of assurance that you haven't launched a first strike. The Fermi Paradox is as valid as any, come explanation time. But here's another: Intelligent, sentient, self-aware Life may be teeming in all the galaxies, yet may never have risen -- or fallen -- to the level of "uses technology." Technology is arguably not so much the result of Intelligence, which we may not actually possess, but of Greed and Envy, which we have great big buckets of. Our "technology," from the times of even the first sharpened flints, has been used primarily to allow us to beat (and eat) our competition. Most of the large mammals in the Americas were wiped out by the new super-predator, Man, before we the vaguest notion of writing. Everything we've done has been out of a desire to weaponize. And writing itself, arose in tandem with numeracy: The writing was to record the name of the owner, and numeracy, keep a record how much he had. The other and similar explanation, as the Bhutowsky video points out, is that there may be plenty of Intelligence in possession of high technology out there, but they've had a look at us and concluded, "No thanks, we'll pass, don't need any religious lunacy out our way...."

We may not be so lucky over the next several hundred years? Why do you think we'll last that long? Several hundred years from now people will be back in the Dark Ages 2.0
