Ah thanks Bro, actually the first guitar I've ever had with EMGs so was a bit nervous but I know the 81 especially has been around for so long. Bought this online on reviews, pictures etc. Looks really great so am pretty stoked. You've helped me with my decision over the last year or so!

I just ordered a LH model of this, looked for examples, the 1st one sounded bad but they guy had crazy muddy tone then found you demo'g this! score..BUT The one I ordered has EMG 81 / 60s so is different than this one you demo'd it appears. Either way, I'm stoked for it to arrive! I bought a B-Stock and for a few blemishes, I'll take the big savings I got :)
@EugeValovirta230V2 жыл бұрын
Cool! Pickups just pickup your sound and EMGs do it very well IMO. There’s a reason most of guitars have EMGs and especially the 81 on the bridge 👌😎. This wasn’t my guitar and just did this video about it. But a great guitar 👌.
@moribnd4 жыл бұрын
Euge, do you want to have any of these high-output Seymour Duncans in your guitars? For me, they don't sound good compared to EMG actives or a lower output passive pickup. BTW, the "violet andromeda" Eclipse is this year's standout colour IMO. :D
@moribnd4 жыл бұрын
The Seymour Duncan high output pickups can sound good for single notes and some chords using the high strings, but they sound HORRIBLE for rhythm on the low strings.
@EugeValovirta230V4 жыл бұрын
Like I said on the video I’m an EMG guy but like I also said on the video that I like these Duncans too 👍😎

@@EugeValovirta230V Because you are an "EMG guy," and I know the sound well from the late 80s/early 90s, I wonder if you have used either the Bareknuckle ceramic Warpig OR the (ceramic) Miracle Man. If so, what do you think compared to EMG 57/81/60???
@moribnd4 жыл бұрын
@@EugeValovirta230V I'm not sure how it is for other people when they hear the highs and mids from one of these Seymour Duncans; they sound trashy to me with excessive highs and mids. Even turning the tone knob down to "1," they sound nowhere near as good as EMG or a medium/vintage passive pickup.

This really looks awesome and the sound is amazing. The only question I got is how heavy is this guitar? The weight is the main thing keeping me away from Les Pauls (I have some back problems) but this one looks a lot thinner and doesn't have a maple cap, so I hope it's a little lighter.
@EugeValovirta230V4 жыл бұрын

how does clean overdrive stuff sound on the Duncans as compared to a EMG?
@EugeValovirta230V3 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s a tough one ’cos it really depends on the guitar and the player but I think the way they differ in general. Sorry but I really can’t come up with a better answer ’cos there’s so many factors involved 😎👌.

I want to play a wide range of music from 80s metal to modern metal to some blues. Would you recommend the passive pickups version?
@EugeValovirta230V4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s up to one’s personal taste but I play a wide range of music and generally prefer EMG active pickups for everything but on some of my guitars passive pickups works a bit better. For 80s to modern metal to blues I’d go with EMG actives but on the other hand I just got a LTD Phoenix (which I’ve done a video also) and it has Duncan Custom and Phat Cat passives and I like those a lot too. Sorry that I can’t give you a definitive answer 😎.
