Best review of this amp on KZbin. I have the same Mark V 90 watt going through a dual rectifier oversized cab. There is nothing that compares in my humble opinion. The amp used by some of my all time favorite musicians. Sounds sick! It can be tight or give you sag. It can be really wide, but still mid-heavy. Also, your demos are the best amp demos on KZbin imo. I’ve had a Mark V 90W for a decade, but your enthusiasm and playing on this vid was so contagious that I had to play with it again for a few hours right after watching this clip! 😁 What a brutally awesome and freakingly versatile piece of art this amp is 🤘🏻 A cork-sniffer’s tip: For the very best-est tone for recording, hard bypass the fx loop with the switch on the back panel. Bypassing the loop circuit completely improves further the clarity and openness of the sound quite a bit, especially in high gain modes. And for recording you don’t really need the loop circuit functions for anything - especially when using a reactive load and IR’s . You’ll probably be adding the post-gain effects like delays in DAW anyway (just remember that bypassing the loop circuit bypasses the Output and Solo level controls as well, so if you’re plugged into a real cab, it will be LOUD with typical channel master settings…).

Man I had this amp for nearly 2 years and never really bonded with it. I was just endlessly tweaking settings and never got a sound I liked. I tried different power tubes, different preamp tubes, speaker swapping, etc... nothing worked. What's crazy though is that when I got the V 35w for review, it quickly became one of my favorite amps of the year and I seriously considered buying one. The low end punch from the 35w power section just wasn't quite there for me but the EQ'ing was effortless and just sounded great everywhere. I'm convinced they revoiced the baby V's. The Extreme mode on the 35w V also had a lot less gain than the MKII or IV mode. It was a bigger, broader and less compressed gain and I greatly preferred that to the other 2 modes. Anyways, I ended up getting the Mark VII and it's just beyond impressive. Incredible sounds all over the place and zero tweaking needed to get awesome sounds. It's the first mark amp I've ever plugged into that I didn't have to do really anything to get sounds that I love and I didn't think that was possible. Just bummed that it cost me so much money to get there but after playing several shows with it now, I'm having fewer and fewer regrets.

Great video man. As other's said best Mark V video out there. It also doesn't hurt to have an 800/plexi kicking around for some A/B but I think its critical in understanding some of what the Mark V can do. Just bought one of these used 2 days ago for $1,400. It was built in 2012 and its an absolute time capsule, and 1/3 the price of new. Totally worth it.

Euge nice demonstration! the Mark IV and Mark V amplifiers are just amazing. I have come to appreciate how flexible and useful that are as amplifiers. They take some more time to understand but they are very powerful gain and tone shifters and playing thru Greenbacks really gets those amps into Marshall territory. Remember the pre amp gain knob really acts like a tone control....set below 9'Oclock the sound is thinner, set between 9 and 1 the tone is less thin and has more meat to its bones, set above 1 or 2 the tone darkens and is thicker with more compression. Also the Midrange knob acts as a gain boost above 12 o'clock. Also the Bass knob (and the others) is before the preamp section so if you are in a hi gain mode typically lower the Bass as to avoid flub and muddiness. and as we all know shape that tone you got at the end with the (post pre amp section) parametric EQ.

Euge has the tone in his hands! He has active fingers! With the exception, this is one of the only video on the Internet where he makes this amp sound incredible. Yeah it’s kinda like a Swiss Army knife of amps. The third channel is for heavier tones and the other two does anything else and the second channel does heavier tones too 💪. And the third channel actually does lots of things too when you back up the gain 😎.

I just got the MK 5 head…again! Partly thanks to this video Euge. I had one 9 years ago but didn’t spend enough time with the manual. But this time I did and along with this review I was able to get all the tones I needed straight away. Gigged it after just 2 days and it was awesome! Highly recommend this Boogie for guitarists that like more than one basic sound. A classic amp for sure.

A few years later but still need to comment. The big strength of Mark amps is being able to have a pile of gain on your signal, but still maintain bell-like clarity when playing big 'expensive' chords. Nothing gets lost, nothing pokes out. It just takes what it is given and presents it with that Mark tone. You can get lost in a Mark's sound just playing simple chords. There's something about it no other amp line does.

I stand by solid state guitar amps for the most part, but this is the one tube guitar amp that i actually have wanted for a very long time and possibly the only tube amp that i would ever own. There's no underestimating an amplifier that sounds good plugged straight in.
