So +Arumba, right now you are at the peak of the empire. At 200 hundred years you will start to decline and in 400 years is when you are screwed. To survive you need to reach there. The main differences are in tech, in 400 years the barbarians will have an almost insurmountable advantage in tech. Just keep playing in speed 5 and you will enjoy. Cheers.

Also the empire doesn't usually collapse in this mod because of ending the Pax Romana, it happens mostly due to fucking brutal faction events and rebels. Even if the AI somehow manages to survive that the barbarian invasions event happens around 390 A.D, and at that point they will either split in 2 or fall completely.

I adopted Christianity and then quickly converted as many provinces as I could, then I started changing their culture to Roman. The advantage you have is that you have the largest army in the whorld, so no one will ever dare o declare war on you if you don't build up aggressive expansion. So, once the Roman-Parthian war is over, don''t expand any further and use your army and resources to fix your internal issues. I managed to have my house in order by 395 AD. I even managed to expand a little by this time, conquering all British Isles. When the Barbarians started declaring war, I alerady had them surrounded by forts and a good army. They are programmed to be stronger than you, but you can be stronger than them if you manage to prepare yourself first. Si vis pacem, para bellum. Once you fix Rome's internal problems and annex all the Barbarian tribes, Rome is UNSTOPPABLE. Parthia was no match for me and I ate up China real quick. This campaign was great. i managed to conquer the whole world by 1908.

Late watcher here, but it's so unrealistic how fast Christianity spread here. Basically when Constantine recognized it, it was barely at about 1% of the population at best, if that. It only became the majority religion after successor emperors restricted freedom of religion, burned temples, banned people of certain religions from public office (could be represented by increased advisor cost, weaker generals etc), burned libraries and killed other non Christian Romans that it became a majority religion etc. If the game was more accurate, Christianity should cause massive unrest wherever it is, lowering production and increasing tech cost by a massive amount (in part due to Christianity inciting massive religious conflicts, the Middle Ages was a period of complete recession eco wise until around the 1100s for the West, and the 800s for Eastern Rome, compared to classical Rome which grew by 300% of GDP or so during the Pax Romana (300% over 200 years or so, which is tiny today, but unprecedented at that time in history). In exchange for all of these drawbacks, Christianity would have much higher tolerance of true faith (say 5 compared to 2). Missonary strength should be relatively weak, as it did take until around 800 - 900 C.E for Eastern Rome to convert away the last of the hellenistic followers. It would also increase legitimacy growth (to standard EU4 levels as time goes on), as the main reason Constantine converted was that under Hellenism, he was just a man who had seized power and proclaimed himself emperor, but under Christianity, the doctrine was that he was divinely ordained by 'God'. At the end of the day, I feel the mod goes far too much for historical determinism, when one single decision by anyone important back then could have radically altered all of history. Theoretically an industrial revolution by the 1100s (after the first waves of plague and the worst of the global cooling period) was an entirely possible event. TL:DR: Christianity spread unrealistic, should be far rarer and easier to convert away. If Empire converted, should cause massive unrest, increase tech cost for centuries (until at least 90% religious unity is achieved, early conversion speed should be very slow (slower than EU4 base), +500% tech cost to simulate the destruction of libraries, intolerance of other religions leading to incompetents in public office, etc). In history it took Eastern Rome till the 500s to recover, and the remnants of the West till at least the 1100s till education levels got back to classical era standards (and in the West literacy rates continued to be worse than classical Rome till the EU4 era) In exchange tolerance of true faith would go up (other tolerances go way down), and legitimacy gains would go to EU4 levels.

im a huge fan of arumba, and a friend just bought me this game as a gift, but i legitimately have no idea whats going on in large sections of these videos at times, anyone have a good recommendation for a playthrough where someone sort of teaches the game as they go? perhaps another playthrough of arumbas? the in game tutorial is very very minimal.
@aaazz119999 жыл бұрын
+ChrisEngle87 The in game tutorial is rather meh. I suppose that the best way to understand this game is watching videos. I got to know the game by watching Arumba's Poland campaign and then playing with some cheats to get a hang of most mechanics - took me around 3 full campaigns to finally understand the game fully with basic information from my friend and 20 hours on CKII. Bear in my mind that this video is about a mod that changes some aspects of the game if you play before 1444. Some of the things shown in Arumba's old videos were removed/added.
@Aqualightnin9 жыл бұрын
problem is, all the big youtubers use tons of keyboard shortcuts (which we cant see) so it looks like things just magically happen as he talks about it, without learning how to do it.
@aaazz119999 жыл бұрын
I remember having a few difficulties with that as well. Most of the stuff is in the default key bindings (check the options) minus the reorganise troops part. There are few mods that add custom keybinds to the game, but I'm not sure if Arumba uses of these or a custom one. Sadly, you need learn some of those things that the tutorial does not cover yourself. It's very offputting, but once you get the hang of it after a two or three full games, you should be fine.
