How cool! As you know, I have the same projector! I think the tape problem may be two things:1) that the projector isnt running quite fast enough to pull the floating roller up. If I recall correctly (and I dont have the projector nearby right now) moving the floating roller up slows the projector. Maybe try moving the front rheostat to a slightly faster position or using a variac to up the AC voltage to the projector slightly? 2) The projector has to be on the other side of the tape recorder so the tape going to the projector has passed though the tape recorder's pinch rollers, essentially locking the speed of the tape to that of the tape recorder and allowing enough tape tension to be created to move the floating roller up. I suspect there is not enough tension available from the tape recorder's feed spool to move the floating roller. If either of these thoughts - or something else - gets the tape recorder synchronized, I would be most interested to hear how well it works. Being all analog there will inevitably be increasing synchronization errors for longer films. I wonder how much of an error occurred towards the end of a large reel? Great video! Thanks for pointing it out to me!

Good points; it's true that the feed reel of my tape recorder has no back tension where some models do. I can't quite figure out how I could thread it with the tape coming from the capstan/pinch roller, around to the projector, then back to the take-up could be done easily, but I'll try it someday. If only I had a manual - something's missing here. I'm guessing at best it would be good for music and narration tracks, expecting perfect sync would be a bridge too far. Thanks for replying.

Hello i got one from my grandfather and im thinking now selling it. But what is really the value in one. It havent run in years since my grandfather died 2007. Is it ebay or?

It's a pretty good projector for silent films, if it runs. But there are a lot of 8mm options out there, and probably not enough buyers-if you go the eBay route it will sit there unsold for a long time, unless you sell it cheap.
