Great video, Carmen. We all learn lots from you and appreciate you sharing your experiences and knowledge. If you're taking a tally - I vote for similar care videos on Philodendron and Aglaonemas (Lately, I'm having some problems with both species, leaf yellowing or browning issues. My Etta Rose and my White Dalmation suddenly have the browning and I can't tell if it's root rot or what). Anyhoo, I've just managed given the cold that's come on us quickly here in Indiana, to bring in my all my cacti and succulents, at least into our garage. This time of year is close inspection time so problems always seem to present themselves. My white ghost is doing pretty well I think, knock wood, it's still young so not nearly as mature as yours, but I'm totally panicked over my Pseudocactus Zig Zag which is two years old now and this summer grew over waist high on me! I noticed some burn marks on it, so obviously even here in less intense Midwestern summer sun, euphorbia can get burned outdoors, but a bigger worry now is some new brown marks I just noticed on it, towards the lower, thicker, stump like half of the Zig Zag. These brown marks are pretty prevalent and I did try scratching some of it off to see if it was scale. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it is (the brown doesn't come off with scratching like scale usually does. these marks are more like dents than bumps). Anyway, so here I am, still concerned, but utterly clueless as to what the problem is. I love that cactus too - it's done so well for me over the last two years - and is really quite beatiful - and I'll be just torn up if I lose it. 😢 I've sprayed it down with a Neem oil and mild soap spray, so with all my fingers and toes crossed, I'm hoping for the best...
@carmenwhitehead4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like sun damage on your zig zag. It will recover if that's the case. They are very hardy. The browning on the Aglaonema leaves could be water related. I always use filtered water on my foliage plants and the browning tips went away. Something to think about. Thanks so much for your support and for visiting!

@deaconsmom20004 жыл бұрын
I really like Euphorbias and they were some of my first plants. I lost most of them a few years back in the Summer of the Floods. The only one that survived is my graft (similar to yours). I purchased a cutting from an E. loricata and I have high hopes, but my Home Depot has a absolute monster there for $19.97 and I'm pretty sure I'll buy that eventually. I really love the obesas; they're one of my favorite plants in the world and my heart was broken when the Floods caused their demise. Euphorbias just aren't offered for sale too much in my area of PA. More's the pity, but that's why we have Etsy, isn't it? I'm happy to see you speaking about succulents and eagerly awaiting more of this content as well as some shows about your cacti collection and more Rosie. P. S. - I couldn't resist those little scarecrows either. I have a couple of them in my ferns, pothos, and one in my Whitney snake plant. They're so cute.

Hi Carmen! How are you? Dumb question for you. I have a few cacti. One I bought 2 years ago. First year it didn't grow much. I am assuming the roots were establishing in the pot. This spring/summer has shot up over a foot. The base is very thick and the middle and top are much thinner. Will the middle and top get as thick as the bottom? Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Gerry HPEteacher 😎 PS: I bought plastic garden fencing at Walmart on clearance and making trellises for my Hoyas. 😎
@carmenwhitehead4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gerry! Usually when that happens it means that it's not getting enough sun. If you give it some more sun in a window, the trunk will start growing thicker. The thinner part won't grow thick though, it will stay that way. Hope this helps.
