I feel like if Lexi wanted to out Nate as being gay, then she didn’t need to include the entire football team, she knew how maddy find out nate might be gay through Cassie, and she could’ve done that in her play word for word like she did everything else. So for me it seemed she made fun of jockroom culture/men and their sexuality around each other, and if the shoe fits then that’s not her fault. Nate suddenly being an advocate for gay rights and deciding what’s homophobic was honestly hilarious to me. Lexi made Nate cry she’s a winner in my book 😌

It was not making fun of gay people, it was making fun of homophobia and the hypocrisy of these men who looks down on gay people but then they do all sort of "gay" things with their "bros". And nate got offended, of course, because of internal homophobia and other stuff

As a gay person myself, I think the locker scene wasn't homophobic. It seems like commentary about how ironic it is that male locker room culture is so homoerotic while jocks typically tend to be full of toxic masculinity and homophobia. Nate calling it homophobic just seems like he's projecting his own insecurities, being that people now know that he isn't straight. She also didn't out him because at this point of the story, most people have heard the rumours of Nate being gay. I think another thing that proves that it was commentary on jocks generally and not just Nate is the fact that we've seen homophobia from jocks thru McKay's assault in the first season. Realistically, Lexi also knew about that and it's why she chose to include the entire football team and not just Nate, but with Nate still being the focus due to him being the most prominent homophobe in their lives. Either way, the scene wasn't about him being gay, it was about him and other jocks being insanely homophobic.

30:12 you probably forgot this from season 1. Maddy tells Kat(or was it Cassie?) that she found dick pics in Nate's cell phone, and that person told a bunch of people. When the principal was interviewing students about if Nate chocked Maddy, a few of them mentioned about Nate being gay meaning the rumor really got around. So it's not really far fetched for Lexie to also hear the rumor too.

I think people need plays like this , too. Sometimes you get caught up in your own mess that you can’t really think about what’s happening properly. Looking from the outside in gives people the opportunity to be a bystander in their own lives, and to truly see the situation for what it is. After you watch what is supposed to be your character going through the motions, I think processing it would be a lot easier. I also don’t think Nate is gay. I think he’s hypersensitive to queernesses because of his father and what he say at such a young age. He hates his father and maybe he associates male homosexuality with what his father did and everything he was.

With all the messed up shit happening in the lives of everyone she knows or cares for AND as an aware bystander to all of that, it's no wonder she resotted to whatever channel that made sense to her to let it out. I mean it's heartbreaking for us as the viewers to watch, so to be in the middle of the chaos Lexi lives in.....you can't be sane and not want to have to do something about it, let alone whip up a play about it! I would let this one slide. The play seems like a much needed reflection (however forced at that) for the characters portrayed in it.

I dont think Lexi was homophobic. I feel like she's trying to show us that straight guys like girls in a sexual way, but -when we are talk about love and admitation- straight guys are into other guys. Men love men, men admire men, men protect men & in my opinion that was Lexi's criticism. By the way, she has NO IDEA about him (Nate) and his father OR him and the d1ck pictures Maddy found out on his phone. Of course Nate felt some type way bc he was touched in a different way, I think. In fact, not only him, but Jules, Rue and Maddy. Lexi and audience were just having a good time. I'm gay and I can't see anything really problematic in that part. Just wanted to add, not sure if Lexi knows about his sexuality, cuz I think he didn't figure it out himself fully yet, but here's what I think the intention behind that scene was. They got to the part of the play where she said their friend group was watching his & Maddy's relationship & it being their first time seeing what "love" is in this day & age for their generation. It was at that time that Maddy told Cassie (I think) & Kat about him having penises on his phone & that spread through the entire school. She combined the rumour & that kind of stereotype about jocks being very close to each other when working out to portray what was happening at that point with Maddy & Nate, their relationship & how people around them viewed it & what they imagined was happening when girls aren't around x5

I know this was posted a few months ago but I’m still gonna comment about it. Obviously Cassie was wrong for what she did, and she needs to learn how to own up to her mistakes, but part of the reason for why she doesn’t is most likely because she wasn’t taught how to. Parents are supposed to teach their children even while they’re growing up right from wrong, and it doesn’t seem like Suze did much of a good job of that with Cassie, especially after Cassie and Lexi’s dad abandoned them….in fact, Lexi seemed to be the more sheltered one since she’s the younger sibling. Suze didn’t seem to teach Cassie right from wrong, and how to own up to her mistakes, plus she shamed Cassie for sleeping with Nate and for breaking the “ don’t fuck your best friend’s ex” rule….As a parent, you shouldn’t shame your child no matter what they do….Yes there should be a disciplinary move involved, but you gotta teach them how to act, and shaming them won’t help. So I blame Suze for that. I think that the two main reasons for why Cassie wasn’t herself this season is due to the mixture of her dad abandoning her family, and she literally had an abortion towards the end of Season 1, that unfortunately Sam Levinson didn’t think to write more of a storyline about….Abortions are a big deal, and they can cause a lot of stress, injuries and trauma. Obviously Cassie is still traumatized by it, which put her into a depression which eventually caused her to spiral. I really think Sam did Cassie wrong this season, because he should’ve just kept going with the abortion storyline, but he didn’t instead he choose to destroy Cassie’s character which has caused so many Euphoria viewers to despise Cassie. Also….Lexi did Cassie wrong in her play for making fun of Cassie for how beautiful she is. Yes Cassie has been told her whole life that she was beautiful but, the issue is that she was told that in two different ways….the typical “you look so beautiful” as a real compliment, and then the creepy way by all of the men in her life who sexualized her constantly, which Cassie is only able to see her beauty and worth through the eyes of being sexualized. When Lexi did that part in the play of Cassie as the angel, I thought that was wrong because Cassie never asked to be born beautiful, nor did she asked to grow up looking beautiful….that’s all puberty and genetics which she had no control of, and sadly a lot of girls in our social get shamed for “pretty privilege” because everyone hates on them, and bully them for their looks, and wonders why they ever feel insecure….just because someone is physically beautiful, that doesn’t mean that they don’t and shouldn’t have some insecurities. Lexi made it seem like being in Cassie’s shadow was the worst thing ever, and while Lexi did have her traumas…..shaming Cassie for something she had no control of herself, while there’s worse things happening on the world…that’s not cool.

As a queer person who has been outed, and I know I do not speak for all queer people, Nate is deserving of every awful thing ever. And as the audience, we know that his home life isn’t really a place where he would be harmed for being out of the closet. Lexi, does not know that though, so I feel conflicted. Nate is an awful human being and I did live for seeing him upset. Ultimately, Ethan ate that shit up!!

I think his dad did it to him at a young age that’s why he hates him so much

Cal is a horrible person, but Rue literally said in season 1 that Cal never touched Nate as a child and in season 2 she said that he’s TECHNICALLY NOT a pedophile, because Jules lied about her age. This show had a lot of symbolic scenes every episode almost and this resembled the trauma root of Nate watching those tapes. Please stop making up reach theories, because this is one of them. 💀

I know y'all may be a lil biased but Rue & Jules are awful for each other lol like sure they could use some closure maybe but I'm freakin praying they never get involved romantically again. people should only be shipping them with qualified therapists

Yeah we think if they heal they can be in each other’s lives whether friends or lovers.

I don't think it's homophobic in nature because obviously the main characters are either Queer or allies. However, I think the narrative is misleading. If Nate likes guys then he isn't gay he would be bi/pan (bi itself is a whole different topic and issue) and the fact that the joke revolves around Nate being only into men is biphobic and basically follows the idea that you must "choose a side" because being into multiple genders isn't real. Not only is it queerphobic in regards to Nate but it's also transphobic when it involves Jules. The assumptiom that Nate is gay isn't true because he genuinely loves Jules and wants to sleep with her, if he's gay then that would mean that people make the assumption that Nate only like Jules because she's a man which isn't true and obviously borders transphobia. Not only that but Nate is clearly traumatized around sexuality because of his dad and he doesn't know what he is out of fear that people will think he's as demeneted as his father.

You said this so well. Great points. We also think Nate is scared of facing his sexuality because of the dad thing.

@@JynxRyl Nate head is all screwed up along with his sexuality because he has watched 10 years of videos of his father screwing different people. Think he was watching this when a young boys mind is forming and his sexuality during puppetry. All that time he was watching his dad have sex that is nasty and would mess with anyone's head. The dude needs serious help but I have no sympathy for Nate.
