As someone who lived with a sibling drug addict, that first scene was like an out-of-body experience for me. Like I physically disassociated because it was so, painfully accurate. The mood swings, the violence, the hatefulness, the intimidation, the crying, the emotional manipulation and lashing out. It’s like an exact replicate of the way my sibling acted, except maybe lesser since Rue’s a tiny girl versus a giant, muscular guy that could easily overpower you. It’s such an amazing episode, just… a lot.

Rue smiling at her mom telling her she isn’t a good person isn’t her being proud of it, her mom and loads of people are misunderstanding that she already thought she wasn’t a good person, but in that moment her mom saying it basically pushed any semblance of hope from her on being redeemable, when the people closest to you in a way “turn on you” it will drive you to another level, Rue is not a bad person, she’s a 17 year old addict who’s been addicted since she was 15, she’s literally in turmoil and she wants to be a good person but her brain is so used to the drugs that she feels it’s literally impossible

Laurie is the scariest person in the show. She knew Rue wasn't going to be able to pay her back for that suitcase. She had already made up her mind to traffic her. The easiest way to traffic someone is to get them addicted to shooting and then they can be turned out for drugs. Laurie was going to make more money off of Rue that way.

so apparently all those birds are cover ups for trafficking, they make noises to cover up sounds like the scratching from someone locked in a room, not sure if you heard it before. same with the microwave, that's why rue kept looking at it because it's there as a continuous sound to hide any suspicious activity. people also think laurie drugged rue and passed her around the men that we see when she wakes up("even if we don't have money, there's always one thing we're good for"). she also has a whole suitcase full of pills but tells rue she only has morphine, thus getting her addicted to another type of drug she's never tried, and now she's dependent on her

The woman didn’t help Rue. She lied to her saying she only had needle but we saw her bring a whole suitcase with a variety of pills. In the morning, we see that several times the woman put the needle in her arm so likely she continued putting throughout the night (because in the bath tub she only stuck her 2 or 3 times). We do not know what she did with Rue’s body over night or for how long Rue was there.

I think Laurie knew she wanted Rue since the second she heard she was a high schooler and Fez hesitated when she asked if Rue was addicted. Her mind was made up, and she knew rue would mess it up that’s why she tried to give her a bigger case, so she owed more. Also heard a wild theory that Ashtray could be Laurie’s kid since she says she had a family and that’s when she learned she’d do anything to get rid of withdrawals 😬

I just wanted to say when lori was explaining the long term side effects of opioids the “soul death” part isn’t true, these days with opioid treatment you can redevelop those parts of the brain after a couple years of treatment, it’s a very long process however you are able to gain those emotions naturally back over time. Other then that everything that lori said about opioids and the studies is true except for the soul death part. With rue having to go to the toilet every 10 minutes and the constant yawning is probably the most accurate depiction of real life withdrawl symptoms when you are in the early stages of withdrawl

if sam really did forget that elliot knew about the suitcase and where it came from then i’d say elliot could tell rue was going down a fatal path when she stopped caring about mixing substances that shouldn’t be mixed. he couldn’t bear getting close to jules and knowing that rue was as bad as she was. neither of them knew just how bad her addiction had become until they witnessed her meltdown. elliot felt guilty because as an addict, he understand exactly how rue feels and because they were best friends and drug friends, it made him feel even worse. he knows he did the right thing but he betrayed her as a fellow addict. however if he does still know about the suitcase and laurie and proceeded with this, i’m really curious as to what he had to gain from any of this. it’s not like jules is gonna run to his arms after rue’s sold off somewhere. he’s an addict. he’s high-functioning, but he’s still as much of an addict as rue is. plus jules already has trauma dealing with her mother’s addiction and now rue’s. i don’t see it going very far at this point :/ i saw some theories on twitter that elliot might be working for laurie. that would be really interesting. i think it’s a stretch but it would be a cool twist. it would hurt tho as i love elliot lol

Elliot didn't know where the suitcase came from. The only thing Rue told him was her plan and about Fez saying no to it. Rue never told him about going to anyone else with the idea or that she actually got it. I think Laurie is the sex trafficker, bc “she always gets her money back.” I saw a theory that said that Laurie was so ready/eager to give Rue the suitcase bc she knew that she would fail at selling the drugs. I think was able to get away bc her tolerance was so high that Laurie didn’t give enough morphine to knock her out for the entire night
