I’d say left back is where that begins. We didn’t look great against Iceland with Gordon because he had no overlap option. People aren’t talking enough about how good a fit Luke Shaw is going forward. His absence is part of the reason Rashford has been so shocking this past year. He is one of the best overlapping left backs in the world and can also invert well and sit into a back 3 if needed. I blame Southgate for playing Chilwell twice in the friendlies against Belgium and Brazil as it didn’t give us a chance to integrate a new Left footed left back.

Gallagher just runs around and mainoo just passes sidewards and backwards all game. Trent was the only one out of the 3 who made a difference to the attacking side of the team. But i suppose mainoo fits southgates tactics more than the others 🤷🏻‍♂️
