Guacamelee is a fantastic game, according to Johnny - but will Aoife agree with him? The Eurogamer team take a look at the Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition to find out, but given there are fighting chickens, talking goats and plenty of jokes, chances are looking pretty good.

Guacamelee is indeed a fantastic game, just about near perfect! I hope Aoife keeps with it, because there's so much more charm, humor, and fun (and frustration at times, especially for me when trying to master some of the very complex combos for Combo Chicken) to come. Dare I hope for a Let's Play series? ;)

I haven't played the full game, but it's just such a big love letter to Mexican culture, from the luchador masks and wrestlers, to the use of Dia de los Muertos as part of the plot. Even the shop/save spot is a lovely little bit of design - it's the "ofrenda", or altar used during Dia de los Muertos, which is decorated with images of our loved ones who passed, sugar skulls, candles and personal effects. And now I want to go back and finish it.

Just a point of interest for Aoife. Testicles was the name given to fans of former wrestler Test... I think Johnny Chiodini is quite a good name, but if I were to assign both of you with gimmick name I'd go for - Captain Jack Roberts for Johnny (A pirate gimmick. First name is obvious, but the surname is because the most successful pirate of the golden age of piracy was Bartholomew Roberts) Britney Lockhart for Aoife (Gimmick would just be Aoife turned up to 11. Aggressive and determined nothing would stop her! Don't think I need to explain the name.) Incidentally my user name was my wrestling name, but only for a very brief amount of time. Any wrestling queries you know who to call...Andy or Mike ;)

I picked the second up on a whim. having liked the first. It's all very familiar in terms of move-set, music etc, maybe a little tooooo familiar, but overall it brings enough new to the table and something that's just 'More Guacamelee' was never going to be something I *didn't* want...
