THANK YOU, Johnny! I've searched everywhere on KZbin for a regular Spelunky player who can't finish the game. Now I feel a little better about myself (am I the only one?). Even though I can barely reach the Temple levels...and only on a good day...it's still one of my all time favorite games.

I can verify that yes they do tell you to check your shoes, but if you live in the cities, you only have to if you’ve left them outside. You actually need to be more careful taking down laundry off the clothesline. If you live in cities you almost never see anything venomous

There's a trick in real life to descending with a rope to its full length to a cliff bottom and then retrieving; it's called a "suicide hitch" and it's basically for some really specifc emergencies

that sounds like a really morbid joke but not it's a reference to a noose, it's basically a half hitch where the weight of the climber pulls the working end down on top of the standing end (therefore coming on down when you are at the bottom and can take you weight off it) and requires some very careful assessment of the rope fiction and the attachment point

@@scrapprincess294 there's also a special kind of knot you can use that requires you have enough rope for double the descent height. Short version, half the rope is to support your weight, the other half is for you to tug on when you want to undo the knot. don't confuse the two.

GiRayne True, but the basics/first hour of the game have remained relatively unchanged - get in a Sidey, crash into the mail slot a few times, get destroyed by pirates etc haha And yeah, he's made a few videos about the game in the last few years so I believe he's relatively into it
