Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of VW Golf 2022

The Golf was originally assessed in 2019. The updated car has been reassessed against 2022 protocols, with some 2019 tests carried over where applicable.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

testerday i totaled my golf mk8 while going 170km/h. i pressed the brakes so hard but i could just decrease it to 130 and the car in front of me was going 70. other car flipped over. all of my airbags exploded and im glad that's a safe car

It's a category score. The Polo and Golf are not in the same category of cars. The Polo is a subcompact car whereas the Golf is a compact car. They are compared to other cars in their respective categories. Euro NCAP calls categories 'classes' and the nomenclature is different. The Polo is in the Supermini class whereas the Golf is in the Small Family Car class. As of this writing, only 3 Supermini cars were tested in 2022, including the Polo. On the other hand, 15 Small Family Cars were tested; much more competition for the Golf (see links in the video description). In a crash involving a Polo and a Golf, you'd fare better in the Golf.

Do want a small car? Then Take a VW Golf or you Skoda Scala or you want a big car then you can take a VW Passat,VW Golf Variant or a Skoda Superb or Oktavia but the Oktavia is smaller.

@@MarioG000 well most manufacturers just keep that rating until a redesign or a refresh comes out. the golf hasn’t had a major overhaul yet, and the refresh is coming out in the next couple years

Euro NCAP either picks cars at random for testing, or the company themselves will pay fot a car to be crash tested

In the end, the consumer, since VW has to put money into the research and development to score well in these tests. NCAP themselves also have to paid. In the end, the costs are translated into the price of the car.

The Golf beats the Polo in every segment apart from Adult Protection where the Golf scored 6% less. As per Euro NCAP’s guidelines though, you can’t compared the scores of different vehicle classes.
