In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

The AEB is pretty darn good for 70 to 0 serious crash avoidance. Nice little car, looking at the S and just hoping I fit in it! (6ft 4).

I'm 6'5 and drive a Q2, you should be fine. But a sunroof might form a potential issue for your height.

@@chesterschriever Thanks.. I ended up with a Cupra Ateca VZX, and I did fit in it with the sunroof, but I decided against ordering one with roof as I have so much height adjustment in the seat available to me without it. Same engine as the SQ2 (221KW/300HP) and same 7 speed DSG, and vs the SQ2 it loses Matrix lights (still has full LED and adaptive cornering), traffic Sign recognition (in Australia only), but gains electric driver's seat, RCTA and rear AEB, adjustable suspension damping (it rides much better than an SQ2 in comfort mode) and 360 camera. Stereo is a very decent Beats system but I believe the Sonos in the SQ2 is another level again but nevertheless I am really happy with it. The thing is, it was more than 10 grand cheaper than an SQ2 and the amount of sheer variety in the driving position is what sold me, as well as the amazing comfort of the front bucket seats. I am tall as you definitely know yourself, but I have a bad lower back that's getting worse, and I am finding the seats to be absolutely superb for long drives. The SQ2 had a nicer interior as is typical with Audi but not 10 grand worth and the actual blue leather seats in the Ateca are nicer (it was the rest of the cabin/dash/armrests that were higher quality in the Audi). I felt in the end I'd just be paying for a badge for a car that drove slightly worse, as Cupra have done some sort of miracle with the Ateca and the way it drives. It's like a precision go kart, so I went for the Cupra. So far am thrilled with it, got it a couple weeks after my original message here. Cheers! I would love to take a pic of it but youtube insta delete any of my comments with links.

@@teddym2808 great to hear you found a car that suits your desires and needs. I myself have the regular Q2 with the 110kw/150hp engine. It's more than enough in the Netherlands where the average speed isn't that high. The regular Q2 has different seats compared to the SQ2 and are more comfy in the regular version in my opinion. As for the price tag, you mentioned the SQ2, which I agree is just a cash grab with a badge. The regular version is more reasonably priced. Cupra is more expensive over here and not that popular. Hope you keep enjoying the car!

@@chesterschriever Hi, thank you! Cupra are pricing very aggressively over here as they haven't even been a year on the market. It has worked well for them as the cars are continually sold out and I was lucky to get one black one. To put it into perspective, I went to their website on a Monday and there were over 200 cars coming in that were available for delivery within a 4 week period. I checked 3 days later on Thursday and they were all gone bar 11. I am not joking. In that 11 was a basic black one, all the others were optioned with roof and some even with Akrapovic exhaust which is 6 thousand dollars and to me a waste of money. It was black or nothing if I wanted it fast, yet I really wanted grey or the camouflage green. Then when I saw them all in the showroom I was shocked how incredible the black looked in person, as it's very metallic and sparkly and just suits the lines of the car. So it all worked out well. It's back to a 17 week wait now. There were 5 brand new ones in the show room when I arrived all for delivery that day! I am glad they are doing well as that means they'll stick around. It was also cheaper than the equivalent T-Roc R by 2 thousand. I do like take off power, it's silly I know, considering Australia has some of the strictest traffic laws in the world, but I just like having it for getting out of busy intersections and power for take off at the lights. Certainly not any kind of necessity though. Oh, I got 3 years or 45,000KM of free servicing also and a 4.99% finance rate so the deal just couldn't be beat. VW was over 7% and Audi too. The interior is not so special, in the Formentor they have upped their game but the Ateca was originally a cheap SEAT suv, but that's the absolute only thing I can say against the car. Enjoy your Q2!

@@teddym2808 The right paint can make and break a car! I bought mine secondhand, since I'm not willing to pay double taxes (car pricing with taxes is ridicilious here). I see that you're talking about finance, there is the biggest differende between us. I paid for the Q2 right away without anything montly payments or stuff like thatm financing isn't that big of a thing here in the netherlands. Most people also don't use credit cards, which explains it a bit. About the power, most cars here in the Netherlands have like 70-100hp, so 150hp is more then enough to pull ahead of most other drivers at intersections. But we don't have that many intersections that offer that kind of driving though. And the area I live and work in are mostly single lane roads, with exceptionally low speed limits in some parts, which makes a bigger engine/more power mostly just a waste of gas and maintenance and also of money because of that. I mean, I wouldnt even complain if my car only had 100hp, cause that's still more then enough for my needs. To be fair, I'm not up to date about Australian traffic laws, but your roads are larger then ours I believe. Another question, do you use your car to tow stuff? ( bike carrier or 2 axles trailers for example? )

Both curtain airbags always go off in any front or side collision? Only 3 are beneficial in these tests (driver side curtain in the side, pole and maybe front offset test). There wasn't any reason for any of the passenger side curtain airbags to deploy but we gotta make a show for the cameras, right? The XC90 didn't deploy any curtains in the front tests and got a near record 97% for occupant protection. Volvo power! February 6, 2017 11:05 am

It is missing to say here that several of these safety measures are actually optional extras. The lane departure, the AEB, even the side airbags I believe ... so next time, please do the test without the extras ha? :D
