Not ideal but not worth worrying about imo. I've got a can of slime and spare rear tube under the seat in case I get it to a fitter and they don't have one in stock.

Covert the rear to tubeless, its easy, common upgrade on a AF. You cannot convert the front has it does not have a retaining rim for tubeless tires, however less much chance of getting a front tire puncture. PS you dont lose are like you do on tubed tyres over time.

I'm a convert now for putting rain gear on from the start. Reduces wind blast too.

Always wanted a KTM to replace my 1260 Multi but your post has now convinced me I shouldn’t. I to have TA also and love it, made a few mods including replacing the rear shock (transformed the bike) and I have an electric cruise on order to help me stick to the limits on major road tours. Converted the rear wheel to tubeless.

A new rear shock is something I think the bike would most benefit from and something I'll probably look at myself. You can feel it's a budget unit once you start picking up the pace a little. Which option did you go with for the tubeless conversion?

It was lucky that the KTM didn`t go pear shaped two days or so later, it would have been a right pain. Just as well you had the other bike as a backup.

What windscreen and deflector is that on the Transalp?

Standard screen with a cheap deflector off Amazon. If you search for Youyijia Motorcycle Windshield 28X12cm that should find it.

what way did you go about installing the the Garmin on the transalp i just got a Garmin zumo xt2

I have a mounting bracket from Ali Express and a 3D printed mounting "block" that I got off ebay. You have to remove the dash to mount the bracket but it's all pretty easy. I also ran all the wires down the back of the dash which was a bit fiddly but much neater. I recorded the install but the video quality was pretty poor so never uploaded it. I might have another go at editing it up as a few people have asked about it. If you need any more help or advice I'm happy to help with links to the bits etc or more specific advice on the install. Is it the gap at the windscreen mount that you routed the wire through?

Yes. It's a tight fit but it goes through if you losen the screen mount behind the dash to give yourself some wiggle room.

Yep, everytime I half convince myself the 1290 Super Adventure would make a better replacement to my MT10, I see posts like this! Nope not going there. I actually really like the Honda Trans Alp but touring on tubed tyres probably means a call to the breakdown services should a puncture happen. Nice quality audio with the 360

I really didn’t really understand your point about not being able to do the distance on the Transalp. It’s a great bike for that kind of trip. I also don’t get this fascination with cruise control on bikes or in cars.

Cruise is essential on long trip especially, keeping to speed limits, esp on avg speed ones, plus its more relaxing for long distance.
