Europe Dec 2019 - Paris, France Part II (Ep 9)

Day 10 of our 14-days tour
We spent the day at The Louvre Museum, looking at famous art displays, sculptures, statues, paintings and furniture displays of many centuries ago. The most anticipated was Mona Lisa, which we finally got to see in person. Was surprised that the Mona Lisa painting is in fact quite small. Throngs of people queued patiently to see her and to take pictures.
We also strolled around on the grounds of The Louvre Courtyard and saw the famous Louvre Pyramid.
Finally we took the metro back to our hotel around 5pm. Unfortunately on the crowded train, we encountered a pickpocket and my wallet was stolen. We made a police report at a local police station but was advised that it’s unlikely I would be able to get back my wallet. The police explained that pickpockets worked as a gang and they would have taken all valuables and discarded the wallet somewhere. It was almost impossible to catch them once they disappeared into the crowds.
I still remember being in disbelief throughout the process. What an experience! To have encountered a pickpocket and subsequently visited a local police station to lodge a police report. At least the French police were sympathetic.
Nevertheless, the tour must go on. A note to myself here that I wont let this happen again anywhere in future!
