Agreed, Met Office in particular have been very poor over the last few winters often getting the forecasts completely wrong especially for Snow. It makes me question is this why BBC stopped using them for majority of their data.

@@gabixu93 Yes but the Met Office have their own models. Sure they make some charts and models available such as the UKV but I presume they have other discretionary information that is not shared. When issuing forecasts Met Office may look at GFS and ICON etc just as WeatherWatcher does, but Met Office tends to base their forecasts primarily on their own Models such as UKV. For example the recent UK cold spell and todays snow in England, Met Office favoured their own models over GFS and ICON etc last weekend and predicted snow much further North which turned out to be completely wrong and not for the first time. So yes WeatherWatcher is also using these models but he ellaborates on all possible scenarios and trends without favouring one particular model.

As usual...here's southeast Bavaria reporting: Dog walk at 4 p m this afternoon at 11C° with strong gusts of wind (we were warned about 55km/h - 70km/h) Beautiful though ...fast moving clouds and patches of sunshine. Now at 7 pm still +9C°, but local forecast says snow after midnight and temperature shall drop to 2C° Thank you for your great work. Best weather channel! 👍

I wasn't among those that commented on not being able to make out the countries, but the colors are definitely much better. It's going to be cold during the day and hitting freezing and below for a few days here in south/central Tennessee U.S. That's not the norm for this time of year. I sure hope that people are preparing as best as they can. They certainly are without excuse as far as being warned.

We expect 10 cm of snow here in Budapest(Hungary). We surely haven't seen this amount, this early in the year for like minimum 10 years. 10 cm doesn't seem a lot, but because it's rare here, it would still cause some chaos. I mean a lot of the drivers are still using summer tires, and we're also lacking snow shovels.

I was in Estonia on the weekend. The winds were fierce on Saturday and it rained almost all the time. I crossed the Gulf of Finland on a cruise ship and people were seasick and vomiting everywhere. Some said that this kind of storm hasn't happened before. Now the Finnish map is full of yellow, tan and even red warnings.

On November 17th, in Saint-Petersburg, rus, we had heavy storm and a lot of incoming water from Baltic sea, up to 200 centimetres above the average level. If we hadn't a damp, which protects the city, we would have the flooding. The westerly wind was up to 32 meters per second. And tomorrow we are expecting the heavy snowfall, yes.

Leicester got snow, but Monday evening near midnight, it was sleet and some flakes. 7 to 10 miles north in Loughborough got a good covering while my area was 1cm. Further up the hill it was around 1 inch. 30 miles north of me in Nottingham, there was 12cm (about 4.5 inches of snow) I was not happy with the snow as I was expecting much more like everyone else! I have no clue to what led it to be sleet rather than snow........

A layer of warmer air in the atmosphere melted the snowflakes and caused them to refreeze into ice pellets/sleet in your area… it’s the unfortunate reality of winter weather events working with marginally cold air
