Heck, per other recent Oktoberfest videos on KZbin, I didn't know that "old" people were among the revelers. Rick Steves found 'em, though. It''s cool that the young crowd has taken to traditional Bavarian costumes ... whether they're from Bavaria or Australia or Japan.

re: France's National Holiday, celebrated on 14th July, no-one in France calls it "Bastille Day"; only the Anglo-Saxons do, for some obscure reason. The storming of the Bastille was, for the revolutionaries, in order to seize the arms, gun powder, etc. that were stocked there as it was then used as an armory. As a prison, there were just a handful of (forgotten) prisoners that were liberated on the occasion. It's become a symbol of the abolition of the monarch's despotism, and the building was subsequently destroyed.
