Visited Portugal for two weeks in 2015 with my wife and two daughters (teens at the time). We visited Lisbon, Obidos, Faro, Evora, Tomar, Coimbra, Porto, Braga, Figueira da Foz, and Sintra before heading back to Canada. It was a busy two weeks, but we loved every minute of it. Best vacation we've ever had. We still talk about it on a regular basis and can't wait to go back again (for a much longer period of time). Cheers Portugal!

You hear of London,Paris, Rome etc. all the time . Nobody told me about Portugal - what a beautiful country with a great history and geography . I'd love to come there . I hear now that the buzz in Europe is about Portugal ; there are many people who now want to migrate and settle there .Cheers to Porto wine !
@anairenemartinez1655 жыл бұрын
I was there recently, in May 2019. You can't go around comparing European cities, they all have their charms. In my personal brief experience, Portugal is just OK, IF a person wants to get great art. Example: Madrid has Prado Museum, Paris has Louvre. Portugal has nothing like that. Food is usually good, plentiful, they put an appetizer on your table, you didn't ask for, and they charge for it at the end.
@rext89495 жыл бұрын
@@anairenemartinez165 I wasn't really looking for art; what surprised me was Portugal is bright, beautiful and spacious. It's surprising because it's not mentioned when people talk about European countries. It personifies an affordable Europe for people who like the continent but baulk at the cost of living.Thanks.
@hjs80925 жыл бұрын
Ana Irene Martinez in all this videos you are always underrating PORTUGAL. Do you have problem with us? Did you had a passional problem with a português boy friend? In fact the portuguese food is one of the best in world and with many variety from place to place between fish,meat, Seafod, etc etc. I would ask you if with “tapas” a kind of couverts you are not charged on SPAIN? Because I m always charged in SPAIN for everything on the table even if I didn’t requested for. About Art you have a lot of great museums ( like the museu de Arte Antiga, Museu de Serralves in Porto, museu da marinha, museu dos coches, Museu Gulbenkian, Múseu SOARES dos Reis, etc etc) in PORTUGAL, and painting is not the only form of art, correct How about Architecture, sculptures? In the past and in the present. Do you know Siza Vieira, or Souto Moura? And poets or writers do you think Cervantes is better then Camões, Do you know Eça de queiros, Fernando Pessoa, Jose Saramago? Is Arturo Peres Reverte better? What do you think about the ignorance of the Spanish with foreign languages and they never make even a little effort? They even don’t understand each other! Do you think this a point in Favor to visit SPAIN? Is this foreign visitors friendly? In Portugal we are visitors friendly and we are very proud that PORTUGAL become less underrated more and more then SPAIN or Italy or Greece or FRANCE because we deserve it. Do you think Spain has better palaces or castles then PORTUGAL, do you have better wine then PORTUGAL? More UNESCO rewards? Well SPAIN has not. Just a better marketing. If I say the SPAIN is not a country or a nation but in fact a State with several parts that want independence Like Cataluña, Basque Country, Galicia, comunidade Valeciana etc So when you say SPAIN are you saying Castilla? For me is less then ok, it’s really ugly. I like Andalucia, Catalonia, Basque Country and Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, and Valencia and Alicante. Even Italy that is great, is just a country since the XIX century. I was born in Germany and travel a lot Around the world. And in fact i may say, and many foreign friends ( including from SPAIN)say that PORTUGAL is precious! Do you know that LISBON is older then Rome 400 years? Do you know that PORTUGAL is much older then SPAIN ? Because there was LEON and Castilla and Aragón but not SPAIN. PORTUGAL 1143 and SPAIN 1492? Do you know that in our history we have wan all wars against SPAIN even out numbered? Do you know that at this moment you are denying independence like a dictators to Catalunha and they don feel and they don’t want to be in SPAIN? Do you know that are 300M portuguese speakers in 4 continents? Do you that Columbus was portuguese and learned everything about sailing in Portugal? You have the right to have your personal option. But you don’t have the right do denying facts or Missing the “ big picture” because you have something against Portugal. Saludos cordiales.

My first trip to Portugal was in 1986. I spent much of my time visiting the breeding ranches for the spectacular horse breed known as the Lusitano. This is a cousin of the Spanish breed known as the Andalusian. To me, the Lusitano is more beautiful and athletic and is the world's #1 horse used in Bullfighting and Classical Dressage. In Portugal, they never kill the bull. I'm looking forward to going back to Portugal next year, it's a beautiful country with wonderful people.

Today I have seen a part of Portugal through your eyes. Blown away. The Gothic church, the magnificent university, the not so crowded towns, the shoreline, the convivial youth all put together were super impressive. Got a peek into the culture of Portugal. The library looked so ornate yet elegant. The local dance form is so interesting. Thanks Sir. I respect you.

Portugal was founded 900 years ago before the foundation of Spain. The fact that there were wars with Spain, doesn't mean that Portugal got independence from Spain via those wars. There was a point, indeed, where there was a single king for Portugal and Spain, because the King was the son of a Spanish Prince and a Portuguese princess. However, even those days, there were two Kingdoms from a formal point of view. It just happened that it was the same king for those two kingdoms. Together, Portugal and Spain were referred in Portugal as the Iberian Union for a period of 40 years.

This video has one big problem about history, it’s said that Portugal battled with SPAIN in 14th century and got independence. However, Spain was founded just in the 15th century. At that time the land that corresponds to Spain had 3 different kingdoms... and Portugal got independe from the Galicia Kingdom in 12th century... and yeah Portugal is 300 years older than Spain.
