The reasoning is not always right, a lot of Brits do have dark Features..meaning very dark hair, darker skin, eyes, etc... I cringed a little when you said that Spaniards from the North East of Spain were lighter skinned than the rest as if there was this massive genetic difference. There is not. There is a wide variety of Spanish looks, and if you are objective, the average Spaniard has brown eyes, brown hair and is fair to medium skinned regardless of geography. If at all, there are more fair skinned people in the Northwestern part of Spain (Galicia, Asturias) than in the Northeastern part.
