Great video how to. We started doing our whitetails back in the early 60's after living in Germany during a military stay. They do all euro's there, not believing in live mounts with fur. One big difference with what is typical here in the states is that they cut the skull coming from behind at the base of the skull, cutting through the midpoint of the eye socket and onward under the nasal bone, above the teeth. This gives you a flat surface to mount too and easy to clean out the brain and nasal stuff. The nasal side bones are also removed. I like that look without the teeth. Probably have done over 50 bucks and some bull elk that way. Of course it is a matter of preference.

We likely learned from the same guy lol I do same process but just a tip from what I have done so far... I go straight to a red tip on my power washer and do all the heavy work with it and it saves a ton of time. Any fragile areas I do with yellow tip including the post color batch wash. I have experienced zero bone damage this way and all my customers love the result. Also wrap your horns from the very beginning of the process and you will have zero discoloration issues. I've got skinning to finished head down to around 4 hours or less and then mop n glow next day. hope this helps. great video sir!

Hello, Did you say use 6 bottles of 40% peroxide? About much water was added?

Yes...I did use 6 bottles of the 40% peroxide and I added the same amount of water...I try to make it a 50/50 mixture but you can always go alittle heavier with the water. I just try to stay close to the 50/50 if I can.

After i boiled my skull into the peroxide mix i boiled mine for an hour and laid it out in the sun. Is it mandatory to power wash the skull after you boil it into peroxide for 7 minutes or is it just personal preference?

Did u mean that u boiled it in the oxiclean/ water mix for an hour? As for the 7 minutes in the peroxide...I highly recommend at least rinsing it off with water (this stops the whitening process). If you don't, it can make the outer layer of the bone somewhat powdery. I powerwash it after to make sure I get any debris that may have been missed.

@@outdoorbelievin5259 as far as rinsing it off after you have it boiling in peroxide, why would you want to stop the whitening process? I mean isn't the objective to get it white?

Yes, the objective is to get it white but without damaging the bone...7 min of the peroxide and water(50/50) boil whitens it extremely white and doesn't damage the bone. On an older deer with more dense bone, you could go for 10 minutes. Once you stop the process and it dries, it is still going to get more white throughout the first day. But the main reason is so you don't damage the bone.
