I was so impressed with foods we could get in a gas station in Japan- like, a seaweed wrapped rice ball with fresh sushi fish in the middle was one of my favorite things to grab for a travel day- but they are SO small relative to the US, and really good at logistics, what with the trains you could take practically anywhere, etc, that it's pretty easy for them to get fresh things from their point of origin to their destination every day. Europeans totally miss the party where we can drive for a whole day, only stopping to refuel and grab snacks and a bathroom break in that same gas station, and still have another full day of travel to get to our destination, all within the same country. There are places in Texas so remote they don't have Internet or a local post office. You have to be able to buy jarred food and preservatives in bulk, esp if you're party of a big family in these remote places. I don't, because my family of 3 lives a mile and a half from a myriad of grocery stores and restaurants and we can afford fresh produce, etc. I enjoyed your outrage on our behalf, and I know Australia is ALSO home to a lot of remote ranches and isolated small towns, so I'm not surprised y'all have actually one-upped us with the 30 pack of sodas 😂 When I saw a map of Australia with, like, five Texas' paid out across it, my mind was blown! Those mega trucker caravans across the outback are wild 😅
@miers20026 ай бұрын
Also, another thing I want to point out on the family size chips n stuff, WE DON'T EAT THEM IN ONE DAY!!! At least I don't, but a lot of times it takes a good few days before the bag goes empty, same thing with other food items aswell!!

Also, she's most definitely a hater of disabled and poor people and the products they buy. You know she's the type to look at an electric can opener and start whining about lazy people not wanting to open their cans on their own anymore. "Screw arthritis! You're just lazy!" I bet she saw the cut avocado pieces and complained about the plastic and lazy people too. "I don't care that removing an avocado pit can be hard for people with mobility issues! They should stop being lazy and just risk getting injured like normal people don't have to worry as much." Gosh, I bet she freaks out when she sees carton bottles of 100% egg whites. "Why not just crack a dozen eggs, and risk failing to separate a few?" Because not everyone has the time or energy? Someone baking a lot of cakes and pies would appreciate having part of the work done. Just because they themselves don't see a use for it yet, they think it's unnecessary and useless for everyone else.

@@poolhalljunkie9 And lose TWICE. People always forget about the War of 1812 where they came back for round two to try and take us back again. Besides successfully burning down the White House, they failed spectacularly in that war too, and the lyrics for our national anthem came out of the conflict. Without the Brits unashamedly going for round two, Francis Scott Key would have never penned the words: “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

@@MiMi_MoMoFalse. The British did not attack America with the intent or reconquering the territory they lost in 1783 with the end of the Revolutionary War. The Empire lacked the numbers, finances and morale to attempt. They were at war with America in 1812 over a few concerns with the main one being over America's very rapid, bloody westward expansion and the fear that their Canadian territory would be at risk. Keep in mind, it was America who declared War on Britain in 1812. And taking into account the above, Britain did not lose the war of 1812. If anything, the result was a stalemate if not a win for Britain.

It kinda bugs me that some Europeans are perpetuating these bothersome stereotypes that we're a backwards neck of the woods in the middle of nowhere and we have never seen a supermaket before. It's simple: where there's capitalism, there's loads of stuff. We just don't have the space to make our stores that big, so we just make multiple floors. There are so many fascinating differences in cultures around the world to talk about. Why do people feel the need to make up stupid new ones?

I really felt second hand embarrassment and I can‘t stand the hate on the US or other countries! It‘s NORMAL to encounter different things when you travel! Although an American grocery store would definitely overwhelm me with it‘s size and huge variety, I would also love to be able to shop in one sometimes to get some foods I can‘t get here and try new things! The only ACTUAL difference that I do find concerning is the fact that a lot of American food contains a much higher amount of sugar and fat compared to food in Europe! But that‘s not a reason to look down on Americans and feel superior!🙄

as a European (Romanian to be exact) person, this is hilarious. Ive been in multiple European countries and: kids everywhere eat those mm yoghurt things, we stock our eggs in the fridge, we put our pickles in a jar, we also have different sections, we have oranges, candies, have family sized groceries and also have ice cream in buckets. The only thing different is that we have different stores where we find ramen, I've personally never found ramen in a grocery store. We usually find those in special "asian" stores

I'm from the UK and literally every supermarket is like this! There's always a candy aisle, a soda aisle, a chips aisle, a bread aisle, etc. and ice cream often-times does come in big boxes and sometimes these stores even sell clothes and stationary too. It's not an exclusively American thing. I am so sorry for these people who shame American stores for doing literally the same thing that our UK stores do. I can't speak for every European country though, but I'm pretty sure a lot of countries have the same supermarket set-up as America. They're set up like that because that system (having an aisle for each type of product so you can easily find what you're looking for) works. It's just the most logical way to set up a large store or supermarket.
@deathbydeviceable11 ай бұрын
I also learned they're set up like this to trigger "impulse buying". As you're walking to the item you're looking for you're able to see the shelves clearly so you can go "oh I also want/need this" as you go to said destination

I found out in quite a funny way that people in some European countries don’t know what doggie bags are. Some friends of mine were complaining that the US portion sizes were making them fat. I asked them why they didn’t just eat half and take the rest home. The looks on their faces were priceless!😂 They had no idea they could do that! I felt so bad that they’d been here almost 2 years without knowing that, but they were ecstatic to find out this new information!😂

@HavianEla10 ай бұрын
That’s literally part of American culture - leftovers. Americans DELIBERATELY make large meals so that they can have some more of that meal later. It did become a problem for some who eat many servings in one sitting, but I get pretty upset with folks who make fun of others’ eating habits. Of course it’s okay to be concerned for one’s health, but do they ever stop to think of WHY people eat to excess? It’s a mental health issue. Whether it be self-medicating depression with yummy but unhealthy food, troubles with impulse control, eating disorders, etc. People don’t become obese JUST because they like food so much, it’s much, much deeper rooted in the conscious than that. So be worried about a person’s WHOLE health then, right? Because it seems pretty ableistic to just write it off as pure laziness, even though I know all over the globe people love making fun of “fat, lazy Americans”.
@Parasiteve10 ай бұрын
its because they have no idea how america works at all so they just complain. they legit think we eat all that food at once and its like no, we take the rest home to eat later, its called leftovers. we have left overs because we can't just walk to the grocery store or a resturant. most people live atleast 30 min away from stores so you can't go every day to get the food you need, its a waste of gas. Europeans have no idea how big america is which is why they dont know anything about it.
@ItzBIULD10 ай бұрын

yeah they think bullying someone for "being in the top position" is ok just because they're on top when its never ok to bully anyone no matter how well off they are. i mean i do hate the 1% because they're rich and are just oblivious to how real life works but thats diff. i dont bully them or anything, i just ignore them and dont listen to them when they speak lol. to be fair too though america does like to put its nose in others business which i think is wrong AF, we shouldn't be doing that.

I think it's also important to note that everyday people don't make the decisions for what food gets put on grocery store shelves-corporations decide what food to stock. Additionally, everyday consumers have no control over the ingredients of their food-its up to governments to pass stricter food-safety laws on what can and can't be used in food production and preparation. Making fun of Americans, especially poorer Americans who can't afford "healthier" options, is assigning the blame to them for something they literally have no control over
