We've been to Singapore close to a dozen times and one of our best friends is from there, so when Dan's mom and brother were traveling with us through Southeast Asia, we of course wanted to include a stop in the Garden City so they could experience it for the first time🇸🇬
Come along to see their honest first impressions of Singapore, including a hot pot dinner with a Singaporean family. At the end of the video, we also show the best hotel we've ever stayed at in Phuket: the Aleenta Resort, which you're also not gonna want to miss! We're so grateful to our viewer Anchalika for inviting us to stay here🙏
You can check out more about the resort here: www.aleenta.com
We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to change the course of our lives, drop out of university, and live life full-time🧔🏻👱🏻‍♂️ We've been together for eight years and have been traveling together pretty much since day one✈️ We're trying to see and learn as much about the world as possible before we settle down somewhere in the world👨‍👨‍👧‍👦 In 2022, we completed our goal of visiting 100 countries at the age of 25🌍 Check our KZbin About page for more details👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻❤️

I think one thing that is under appreciated is the music choice at all the different sections, really helps bring out the vibe of the location (from the airport, to the haji lane, and the boat ride in phuket)

Until recently i lived in Singapore for over 9yrs ..love the airport .. Haji lane is brilliant at night with all the musicians playing in the street a great vibe, so many brilliant places to visit there and yes it changed heaps in the time we lived there.. Tiong Bahru was also a favourite many years ago before it became hip to live there , Love Phuket also the hotel looked amazing, Ah the luxury life of Singapore seems like a dream now..great place to bring up our kids through teenage years, Very different from the western world of Europe and yes it is certainly not for everyone living with a lot of rules and not much people noise .Thanks for sharing .

My husband and I enjoy traveling ourselves and our current count is 44, with Egypt and Jordan (country 45 and 46) in November; no where near the number of countries you both have traveled. Once we retire in 2025, we hope to do more traveling. We'd love to know if you will be planning a small group tour again like you did in Morocco. That trip looked really fun and would love to possible join you guys on another. Anyway, looking forward to more of your travel content. Mark & Mark

Aleenta is indeed incredible and in my books it is a good thing it is just off Phuket island (essentially when leaving the airport turn left and cross the bridge to the mainland rather than turn right). Although there isn't much activity around the resort, the beach is incredible there. The beach stretches for kilometres left and right of the resort and it is completely deserted and feels super private. One of my best beach experiences ever. An alternative would be some of the hotels in the Mai Khao area on Phuket (e.g. Anantara Mai Khao is an amazing villa resort worth checking out!). It's on the same side as Aleenta but just on the Phuket side itself (a few km South of the airport - but you won't hear any planes). Similar beach albeit not as secluded with a bit more options for restaurants around the resorts.

Hey Boys,I'm always SO pleased to see a notification from your channel(s),really lifts my day. A pleasure to meet you lovely mama & bro & I'm always fascinated to see what's happening in Singapore, a place I did enjoy in the late 80s - a period now seen as a Golden time - like many I completely disagree with the more draconian laws & attitude to things dear to me. I too am lucky to have Singaporean friends,so blame government & fundamentalist religion rather than the average people. The resort looks AMAZING & I've actually forwarded your video to 3 friends,before I wrote this comment. Glad to see you both looking so well&happy and wishing you&yours health, happiness and very best wishes💥👊👏👏👏💙💙👌❤️💯⭐️'s💯👋✌️Until next time,around the world 😊

Thanks to the British setting up a colony there in 1819, English is one of the four official languages, the others being Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil.
@huaiwei
@huaiwei Жыл бұрын
@@paulybarr credit actually goes to our first PM LKY, who established Singapore as a working language and lingua franca. Singapore during colonial times actually had Malay as the lingua franca, as the British barely taught English to the locals unless they needed to hire or work with them. Much of the local English education was left to Christian mission schools who did it by their own accord, until Singapore gained independence and English education was nationalised from the late 1960s. This is partly a reason why most Singaporeans speak with a local accent, rather than a Westernised or British one as one might notice among the educated elites who received English instruction from Westerners, in, say, China.
