I say mix butter and olive oil together. Sure, butter is good for flavor and texture, but not as much when butter cools down and solidifies after some time (like, when you'd make a batch of sandwiches and eat them slowly one by one). Little bit of olive oil would give the sandwich just the right amount of sauciness that would prevent the butter from solidifying

@@arthum6351 the word curry was invented by the british. Chicken tikka masala was invented in glasgow. The modern balti style of curry was invented in birmingham. British have been eating curries since the 1700s. Is pasta not italian because marco polo bought it back from china? What about peppers, tomatoes, potatoes and the slew of other ingredients europeans incorporated in colonial days? The brits have been eating curry for longer than America has been a country.

@@lokischeissmessiah5749 just because the word has been invented by the British doesn't make curry a dish from traditional British cuisine. South-east asia and southern india are the regions from which curry originates. Quick google search is enough to find the information, plus let us look at the spices used in traditional curry. None of them would grow natively in the UK due to a different climate to where they grow. Just because the British took everything that wasn't nailed down in their colonies doesn't instantly make it British.

I stand by the belief that the more you add to grilled cheese the more it takes from it. That just became a toasted kimchi and cheese sandwich the same way ham would make it a toasted ham and cheese. A grilled cheese should just be cheese, butter, and bread. There are enough cheese varieties to make it creative on its own.

As a former professional cheese expert I’ll tell you what you are making is a melt, not a grilled cheese. Cheese, bread, butter and olive oil. That’s all a grilled cheese is. Anything else is a melt. You’re supposed to let the good cheeses you are pairing together stand out individually on your palette and combine into a flavor and texture experience. I usually go for a combination of three cheeses, two melters and something flavorful that isn’t overly aged. For your melters go for something buttery and something nutty, for your third cheese go for something bold and a little sharp (not too sharp or it’s overwhelming to the senses).
