Honestly, I get their frustration. Sometimes, we get a few too many points from the juries, even though I'd say it's only a matter of a couple of places in the overall ranking. However, I agree that it's frustrating when people turn their frustration towards us, for sending well-produced songs with generic mass-appeal. Since we can't vote for ourselves, we can't really be blamed if people feel like the juries give us too many points, right?

@@alfredhedlund04 im dutch and in since 2013 we suddenly got qualified since the semi final rounds started and that concept of that song we still kinda use. Minimalistic and Great vocals/power vocals which is kinda the same as Sweden. So the judges just have a preference for minimal with power/great vocals(Heroes was an exception for that tho, that was just a great song just as Loreen with an Dance beat), like Undo(4th) it is great and in the same year the Netherlands had a very minimal song with calm yet great vocals and they got 2nd. But i guess Robin shouldnt have been that high tho in comparison to other songs of the same year.

Some of y’all will bash Sweden for sending generic pop but then call Switzerland 2019 a whole ass bop. Like I agree Sweden was pretty generic, but you have to stay consistent. Switzerland sent a generic beat drop pop song with a charismatic dancer. I’m not saying his song was bad, but it was also a generic pop song (generic ≠ bad). Sweden does do unusually well with the juries, but that doesn’t mean you can just call their entry “boring” or “generic” while then praising Switzerland. Both the Swiss and Swede songs were generic, but good (again, generic ≠ bad)
@augustodominguez74165 жыл бұрын
My comments: Netherlands - The winner this year really DESERVED. That performance in the final was simply... flawless. Italy - Mahmood proved EVERYBODY wrong and I’m so happy he succeeded. Russia - Sergey placed 3rd again for being simply Sergey. That’s it. The song couldn’t be more manufactured for Eurovision, it shined because of its performer, the best thing about “Scream” was Sergey. Had they ditched all of the operatics, he could’ve won the whole thing. Doing TOO MUCH in a ballad, never works. Switzerland - DESERVED! “She Got Me” is a whole bop and the country really worked for a good result. May they pull it off again in 2020! Sweden - too much “perfection” is boring the crowd every year even more, that’s why they’re not getting amazing results with viewers. Juries go nuts with anything, ANYTHING Sweden sends. I hope Melfest 2020 turns for more authentic songs, rather than the very manufactured set we’ve been getting the past few years.
@MusicForever1675 жыл бұрын
If other countries would put more effort, Sweden wouldn't seem 'too perfect'. They just love what they do and people are unfairly blaming them for it. It's just not fair how much hate they get. Imagine if people would hate you just bcs you are really good in something.
@augustodominguez74165 жыл бұрын
Aline Van Rossem When it comes to effort, they were not the only ones making a good effort. This year we had Russia, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Norway & Australia, for example, giving us good efforts as well. And all the countries I mentioned ended up in the Top 10 with Sweden, the difference is that they’ve been very consistent and it has been rewarded, but not everyone will be pleased by it. The formula continues to work, but it won’t work forever. They really need to make an effort to bring authenticity back to Melfest if they really want to win, because as some of the reactors said in the video they’re bringing pretty much the same kind of music every year.

I understand your criticism towards Sweden being a little bit overhyped by the juries recently, but what I don't agree with is that our songs aren't authentic. Just because it's pop, and it has mass appeal, doesn't mean it's not as authentic as something more alternative. Britney Spears isn't a less authentic artist than Björk simply because her genre is pop.

i dont know how other countries decide who get in eurovision but in sweden we have different nations deciding like 50% of the points so the song we send the jurys love, our system is made so the jury will love us so thats why sweden always do well in eurovision

I know I’m late but everyone is saying how Sweden is always overrated and we get a lot of negative comments but as a Swede I don’t get why it is our fault. We send the entries that we enjoy and the jury usually gives us high points but it’s the jury’s of other countries and we can’t vote for our own country so we can’t really help if we do well.

Gosh the hypocrisy against Sweden in this contest lol. Who says that the juries and televoters have to vote the same for «justifying» the result? Disagreements and discrepeancy between the juries and televoters will always occur in this contest’s future and it has happened countless of times as well with just not Sweden. It’s frequently unpopular within the fandom whenever Sweden does well with the juries and an added outrage if the televote doesn’t quite match up, but somehow it’s okay that North Macedonia had an even bigger discrepeancy this year despite winning the juryvote lol although you can make plenty of arguments why North Macedonia shouldn’t have won lol. I get the fact that it’s easier to like the underdogs in this contest but stop bashing Sweden for everything. Personally, I think the placement of Sweden's entries over the last few years (except for 2016) have been well deserved; however, this song was nothing special compared to all the acts we saw this year. He was a great performer but so were a lot of other acts with performances that were more memorable, such as Iceland, Norway, Australia, Czech Republic. I'm not surprised Sweden and North Macedonia were the juries top two acts for them because these are the songs they go for. People are right, there are problems with other countries throughout the years. The bashing is more directed at the juries, not Sweden; therefore, it would be interesting if they did one year of just televoting but that would most likely never happen.

Sweden: Like Katie said, “don’t hate the player, hate the game.” And yes, I find it suspicious when John wrote both songs, yet one finished in the top 5, while the other finished last. 🤔 4. Switzerland: after the Final, I thought it’ll be the runner-up. I think his performance in the Final was WAY better than semis. Good for the Swiss! 3. Russia: yes, it’s dramatic. Yes, Sergey can sing. But looking back, I think 3rd place was a bit much. 2. Italy: came back to Eurovision finishing 2nd, end the decade at 2nd. Only a matter of time they’ll win. He did great, however I don’t have it on repeat on my Spotify. 1. Netherlands: prepare for a long post! Performance wise, he left his heart out there in the Final. With that, the camera angles during the semis were WAY better. I like how the orb was face level, as oppose to hair level in the Final. Okay, I’m nitpicking! It was easily the song of the night and deserves to win. Feel like I’m going to cry again. But anyway, can’t wait to see which city will host it next year. 🥰🥰🥰

I think the guy from last year (I don't remember his name) was so overrated that people just exploded and I do believe that after that whatever song Sweden puts out, people just won't vote for Sweden. 4. Look, I hated this song right up to the final because I though that it was generic Despacito wanna be but surprisingly Luca had just great presence and charisma. 3. The most overrated song by far. I know it's Sergey, he is a great singer but the song was just mediocre and forgettable. I bet that if any other country sang this song it wouldn't even be in the top 15. 2. The San Remo performance was better in my opinion, it was still great but I don't know why I expected so much from Mahmood. 1. The Netherlands. My favorite from the beginning and deserving winner. It was just in another league of its own. Powerful unique singer, the best song in terns of production, emotion and deliverance.

@olivertribe71215 жыл бұрын
Sweden: I think top 5 was a bit of stretch for the song because it was very generic and nothing special but Sweden is still very good at Eurovision. Switzerland: The song is pretty generic and cliche and it really annoys me how the song did so well because it was an upbeat song and a "bop". That doesn't automatically give a song a top 10 result. Also, the live version wasn't good either and really didn't lift the song. Overall, didn't deserve top 5. Russia: I personally liked Russia's song, it was different, the staging was inventive and Sergey's voice was really good. However, it deserves 3rd but definitely top 10 Italy: I really like the song and it definitely deserved 2nd place. This song IS a bop and I can't believe I haven't heard the song on the radio yet because it would be perfect for British radio. Also, it was really well sung and staged. The only thing I would say is I thought the dancers didn't really work with the song, I thought it would have been better if it was just Mahmood singing but that's just me. The Netherlands: Deserved winner of Eurovision 2019, the song is amazing and so meaningful, his voice is stunning and the live performance was really good and hit me right in the feels. I just love some of the lines in the song, my favourite is "small town boy in a big arcade, I got addicted to a losing game". That line is just so powerful and it really spoke to me.

Agree with the points raised on jury's obsession with Sweden, ridiculous that one song by Lundvik end up 5th and the other at last place in the final when the lyrics and gospel vibes were pretty similar. Anyway my opinion of the top 5 (in brackets are my position): 5. Sweden - I've explained it above but to add, juries should be more open to non-generic songs (putting Albania 17th was a disgrace) and not just take Sweden's songs as an ideal entry. No hate to Lundvik (he's really nice and talented), but this just felt too polished (21st GF, 28th overall) 4. Switzerland - liked it at release, gradually dislikes it until it reached my bottom 5 at the end of the GF. Also people praising his vocals are lunatics imo (24th GF, 38th overall) 3. Russia - tbh should've placed 10th at best. His vocals went off a few times (especially the end) and the staging (at least for me) wasn't correlated to the song (20th GF, 27th overall) 2. Italy - you can tell that this resonated to a wide audience (me included). Musically fascinating, native language and deep message! Though the staging was a bit awkward (the dancers), that doesn't stop me from loving the performance (3rd GF & overall) 1. The Netherlands - I was worried in the semis because of the staging in the rehearsals. But in the final, it all clicked. The vocals, light and of course the lyrics & music brought all the emotions possible 😣. Well-deserved victory for 🇳🇱 (2nd GF & overall) My Top 5 would be: 1. Albania 2. The Netherlands 3. Italy 4. Azerbaijan 5. North Macedonia Enjoy your PED ladies & gentlemen! From 🇮🇩

I think one of the reasons Sweden does consistently well in Eurovision is because of the massive national selections we have over here. We have a much larger selection of songs to send than most other countries, which means we can weed out the bad ones and pick from a whole variety of good ones. Am I saying all of our points in Eurovision have felt well deserved? No. Am I saying we consistently send good singers with well-produced songs and just a bit of that generic flavor which in turn will appeal to a lot of people? Yes.
@olivertribe71215 жыл бұрын
Switzerland really conflicted me because I really like the song and it is in my Eurovision playlist but I felt in the live version his voice was off-key and the staging was really messy especially with the dancers. I think it deserved top 10 but not top 5, it should of have placed roundabout 7th or 8th.

5) Sweden: Overrated! 4) Switzerland: Male Foureira, but still one of the best entries of 2019! 3) Russia: I liked that Sergey chose a ballad over a dance song for his second entry! Great voice! 2) Italy: Another great, Italian entry, that didn't win! By far the hit of the year! 1) The Netherlands: A good winner! I liked that he focused on the singing rather the staging!

5 sweden the song was good maybe a little bit overrated but 5th place i can live with that 4 switzerland very very good song also at the live performance for me i think they had deserved the 3rd place not 4th 3 Russia sergey's voice is amazing but the song it is nothing for him to sing a balled i watched the contest on tv and he makes 1 very little same mistake on almost the end of the song at the second semi final and also the grand final it is was by me i would have switched Russia to an other place that 3rd place i would stand switzerland on the 3rd place and Norway on 4th place Russia lower because that very little mistake almost at the end of the song. 2 italy mahmood with the song soldi it was a very good song really deserved the second place a song that i never heard before. first when i hear it weeks before the show i was thinkin this will be not of my favorites but when i heard that live at the grand final i liked it a lot the 2 claps every time was very good. 1 the Netherlands it was from begin till the end emotion and magic his voice was amazing the staging was maybe simple but the feeling that he gives in the song was beautifull well deserved the first place sorry maybe for my bad english

Sweden has good vocalists, beautiful men and a good song. The problem is that they no longer pay interestingly for the last few years. Switzerland this year was one of these at this time a favorite win. Russia has the same problem as Sweden (exceptions last year) so they don't know how to present it interestingly. Italy has been a success forum for several years, but it is better than it. The Netherlands was the winner of the song since its first chords. What I have changed is Sweden, with Norway, overwhelmed by places. And Russia would have set me down

I still don’t understand how Sweden placed top five. I found it kinda boring that I lost interest in it quite fast, and that interest was lost at Melodifestivalen when he was chosen. KEiiNO gave us a show, left us dancing, and poured their hearts out in their performance, and placed sixth. It isn’t bad, but they were pushed out why Sweden! No. The jury surely plays favourites with Sweden. Switzerland was just amazing! I fell in love with him and the song from the moment I heard it. It gives me Fuego vibes, with a Balkan flair. Sad they didn’t place top three, but I’m happy they placed top five. Well deserved, Luca and Switzerland! I hope one day we can go back to Lugano, where it all started.🇨🇭 Sergey, oh Sergey, you should have stayed out of it this year. Scream was good, but not top five in my opinion. You Are The Only One was better. Oh well. I guess we’ll see him again in 2022 (2016, 2019)? 😂 Italy, oh Italy! 😍 🇮🇹 Mahmoud was tied for first place with Iceland this year for me. I feel like what hurt him was staging, but the song was top notch! Not much else to say than what a spectacular performance! Can’t wait to see and hear what happens next with him. Lastly, Duncan, the countries pride and joy this year. I loved the song, but I felt like it was missing something in staging. Amazing voice, especially in the final, but winner...? Eh. Maybe top three. I’m glad it’s finally coming back to The Netherlands, or anywhere in BeNeLux really. He put his booty on the line (and online) and it paid off. See y’all in R’dam! 🇳🇱 🌷 🚢

I feel weird now not being really a fan of any song in top 5 :/ I will describe my feelings towards them - and my personal top 5 - below, but please - If you like some of them a lot and you are sensitive to people being not appreciative of this performances do not read further :) 5. Sweden: generally their entry was ok, but not “top 5 ok”. The song is repetitive and has rather boring lyrics. Overall this entry Is so polished - it’s feels too “plastic” for me to even qualify. It also makes me feel like Sweden makes their performances on the conveyor belt. Plus the fact that one song of this artist finishes in top 5 and the other in 26th place despite not being that different from the first one in lyrics and perfomance is just proving to me that Sweden in Eurovision is too overhyped. 4. Switzerland: This did grew on me. At first, lines “dirty dancing” sounded weird and off-putting but now I kinda like this entry (still not a fan, though) 3. Russia: Not a fan. Great vocals but the whole entry felt like it was rather forcibly torn out of some musical or a theatre perfomance and put in Eurovision. The song sounded too overcomplicated and too “look how hard we are trying to win”. 2. Italy. The song was ok I kinda liked it but I still do not understand why the 2d place all of a sudden. It’s more like 12-15 in placing for me. 1. The Netherlands: I like the atmosphere this song creates and I am actually ok with this winning. The only major problem with this song for me is that I do not feel like listening to this on a daily basis at all. It feels just as overcomplicated and just as “I wanna be a winner” as Russia’s entry. My top 5 overall: 1. Iceland 2. Portugal. 3. Greece 4. Armenia 5. Poland I really wanted to put Australia in my top 5 but it’s mostly the perfomance that does it for me and not really the song itself. Electric Fields would be definitely in my top 3, though.

5. Sweden- No, Just no. Juries were overrating it and it is so basic and not that good to be completely honest. Norway, Australia, Iceland + more unique artists. Also the Sandra was right. Sweden and the UK deserve bottom 5 4. Switzerland- My Winner and my favourite Eurovision country. Thank you Luca for slaying your performance 3. Russia- Overrated... Better than Sweden. Russia did well because of the artist, Sergey... 2. Italy- I love this so much, this really deserved top 5. 1. Netherlands- One of my favourite winners, after Denmark winning in 2013, all the winners (expect Netherlands) were in my bottom. Netherlands is in my top 5 and this is a great winner and I actually can’t believe people didn’t want Duncan to participate...
