I watched all of your videos for your trip and I must say that you both were very calm when you came across issues with the charging stations, I think my patience would have crack and I would have lost the plot so well done to you both and the girls were well behaved considering being cooped up in the car for that length of time so well done all. Been following your trip, been super interesting to watch. I can see that the charging issues are up and down but that´s to be expected I guess. Hopefully once more people start driving EV´s these issues will be ironed out and the system will be more reliable than it is right now. Regardless, thanks a lot for sharing :) The Skoda seems to be a great car, shame about the iffy software etc. Hope they fix it soon. Thanks :)

Thx for the comments. Yes, it is a great car. Only big downside I car really see is the infotainment which as mentioned before, doesn't seem to have been designed by someone who ever drove a car. And Ionity, well, there is competition that is much better(even if they didn't receive EU money like Ionity) and hopefully they will continue to invest.

Drove around 3500km up and back to the north of Norway. Most charging stops were a great pause, I cant handel to drive more than 2 to 3 hours. I just start staring at the road. The first day is fine but the second or even third.. I like to take a walk now and then or just have a nice lunch somewhere. So for me it worked great.

The problem in Poland is that Greenway is mostly 50 kW and Ionity is not yet available, so for now Teslas have a clear advantage as there are a couple of Superchargers in PL.

@EV Family - Fully Charged Great that somebody did this, especially direction east! Kudos. One info to the 3phase or in fact any charging without grounding, some EVSEs have the "Nordic mode" where the grounding is not checked. I guess the one you have doesn't have it, but my go-eCharger has it.

Good video. Thanks. I am about to get our new Enyaq to replace the Kona than it too small for us. You said the consumption is about 20kwh/100km on the motorway. That is pretty good. The Kona is efficient and that gets about 18, and it has a smaller battery (63 v 77) so I am hopeful the Enyaq will do as well on long drives as the Kona. And we won't have to have the dog in the cabin with us ;) Oh, good point about the consumption at slower speeds though. The Kona would do 13-14 in those conditions I think.

Keep in midn that in winter the consumption increases significantly. We had a fed days of -2 Degrees. I charged the car to 80% and left it outside. Did two drives on two days, 15km each and the battery was down to 50%.

Thank you so much for doing this! I got my EV 4 months ago and went away from home this weekend, only within the UK. Visited 6 charging stations and only 2 (Chargepoint) worked as expected in this day and age, by that I mean with only a bank card, not an app or an RFID card 😡 I'm going to drive to Krakow next month in my EV so I'm interested in what your experience is in Poland, with Greenway, EV+ and Ionity (heard you saying it's expensive but maybe needs must). Have you needed RFID cards for them? I'll be making my video on the trip so UK EV drivers can expect in Europe, thank you for the inspiration XXX

I can expect that you will have some fun getting the stations to work. I have a Greenway card. Didn't subscribe to any plan, however they still charged me. This said, they returned the money after i raised it. All the Greenway ones i used worked. Ionity worked too once i got the card, however without a plan(Powerpass or similar) they are absolutely, ridiculously expensive. And i cant get them to charge faster than 80kW, although they are rated to 350 and my Enyay is 125kW capable. In short, you will need RFID cards for most if not all stations! I am pretty sure your Skoda can use Tesla destination charger just fine. The electric plug is the same, and the Tesla destination charger don't need any activation or payment process to get the charging going. This is true even for non-Tesla EV, just plug it in and it will work for any EV.

Tried it this weekend. It was a Hotel Tesla charger and it refused to charge. Tried the proper Tesla charger at a big charging station in Slovenia and equally didn't work. From what i know they are supposed to open up their chargers, however so far i don't see it happening.

They were about 180 EUR. Keep in mind that that was gassing up without any charging cards subscriptions where you get lower rates.

To be honest, I love driving and long distance doesn't bother me too much. The car drives nicely and you just have to calculate in charging stops. Besides that, no difference to EV. I drove a gas car again recently and it is hard to get used to the "humming" and vibrations of an internal combustion engine (even though before EV I almost never noticed it).

I've only tried an EV as a rental car for a 2 month period (Renault Zoe), when I was between cars two years ago. And boy, do I ever miss the torque and hassle-free driving of that EV. Sadly, I cannot yet afford an EV. Well, that not entirely true. There are plenty of used Nissan Leafs available, but three things have me not going for the Leaf. The reports on battery degradation on many Nissan Leafs (mainly due to lack of liquid cooling), ChaDeMo being the charging standard and Rapidgate.

I beleive you can get 510km range only in low speed, that means in city. BTW are you using A better route planner? How accurate it is with Enyaq?

I am using it. It is pretty good! Need to figure out if I can set preferred charging companies as sometimes it wants to guide you to "private/company employees" one. Main reason being also that you don't want to have 5 cards in each country you travel through for charging.

Yes you can set preferred charging companies: Settings -> Battery & Chargers -> Network Preferences. I have mine for example to exclude all Ionity chargers, but you can choose preferred companies too.

I am shocked!!! EV for 100 km you cost about 15 EUR, if diesel consumption is 7 litres per 100 km, then it costs under 10 EUR. I thought, that with electricity driving is less expensive than conbustion engine, but this trip shows, that it is not.

Don't forget that this is charging on stations without any kind of contract(rates with contract are up to 50% cheaper). On top of that it can't compare with home charging where I charge for 4.5 EUR from 0 to 80%

@@jackjoyce1744 others are also expanding so there is no Need for a MY. BTW i have an Model 3 and Tested the Model Y and the Skoda Enyaq as well. Software, acceleration Tesla is Leading, no doubt. But Car wise, the Enyaq was so much more comfortable, quiet than the MY. Also the Enyaq will have an chargingspeed Update this year and will do to 80% in under 30min thats the same Time i need on my M3. As the M3 gets to small i really think of going with an Enyaq this Time.

You did a huge mistake: hydrogen cars are 18 times more expensive to fill up (it costs more than 90$ to fill up tank full of hydrogen and it only costs 5 dollars to fill electric car for the same distance). Hydrogen cars are more expensive to buy and also have worse performance (worse acceleration and top speed and higher center of gravity). On top of that there is only 432 hydrogen stations in the whole world (there a HUGE areas without any hydrogen stations), compared to 7,300,000 electric charging stations. With hydrogen car you are very restricted to where you can go. Hydrogen doesn't make any sense for cars. For big ships: yes. But for cars? Absolutely not.

lets see what happens when every car is an EV fighting for a charge point when they are all occupied.... lets see what happens when all the lithium and other rare minerals for use in the making of the batteries are all used up. Your batteries will not be getting any cheaper. You may be fortunate in having your private charge point but millions of others around the world live in tall blocks of apartments or rows of terraced houses where they cannot get their EV within 100 yards of their home.... They are the ones who will be crying "Help".... How far do you think an electric truck can travel on a full charge? Lord Bamford (JCB) has stated that they can only be used for 4 hours before being charged up for more than 12 hours... He is now manufacturing all his diggers and cranes etc to be powered by hydrogen engines.. I may be in the minority for the next ten years or so but EVs are not the future , Musk has fooled the world's politicians and car manufacturers

99 % of all electric car charging is done at home overnight, public charging is only done very rarely in reality (only on roadtrips), so there won't be all the chargers occupied, number of electric car chargers are increasing rapidly, in near future electric cars will have 5 minutes charging which is comparable to petrol and much more charging point compared to petrol stations. There is more than enough litium to power all the cars in the world and even after that will be plenty letf. Do you know that typical electric car battery only requires 8 kg of litium? That's nothing. Litium batteries doesn't contain any rare earth metals (you mixed that up with nickel metal hybrid batteris which Toyota uses in their hybrid cars) or maybe you had in mind cobalt, but that is NOT rare earth metal. There is more that enough cobalt in the world and some electric car batteries doesn't require any of it (LFP=litium phosphate batteries). Batteries are becoming cheaper every year, in the last 10 years litium battery prices have fallen 10 times (from 2010 to 2021) and they will continue to became even cheaper. 70 % people live in a house so there is no problem with charging electric car. For thoose minority that live in apartments the city will install slow public charge point to every parking lot in the next 10 years or so (there are already laws that require that). Modern electric car can travel 500 or even 600 km on single charge, but next year they announced electric car models with 1000 km of range, so no problem there. And let's remember the fact that average american only drive 50 km per day on average, for Europe that number is even less..

Hydrogen is INCREADIBLY inefficient, it take 3 times as much energy to power hydrogen car the same distance compared to electric car. EV are the future, if you would know the subject, then you would know this by now (i am mechanical engineer with a degree by proffesion). Hydrogen doesn't make sense for cars. Not even for trucks. It is all about the cost per mile, and hydrogen is much more expensive per mile compared to electric propulsion. Hydrogen only make sense for long distance very big ships and long distance big planes because of it's high energy density. Even for short distance planes and ships batteries makes more sense!

You are lying about electric cars needing 12 hours to charge. If you are in a hurry you go to fast public charging station and can charge for 300 km in just 15 minutes (model 3). But normally 99 % of the time electric cars range is more than enough for one day, so you just plug it in when you arrive home and have full charge in the morning (if you are charging overningt it doesn't matter how long it is charging), the charging speed only mattery on roadtrips, which most people do once or twice per year or don't do at all.
