Thank you, this video was very instructive. I had always wondered what the function of the set screws were, located on the inside edge of the hinge. In trying to adjust a sagging glass door, I initially thought the set screws were there to ensure an adequate gap between the glass and the hinge plate. Hence, my reasoning to back off the set screw to allow a smaller gap and thus make it possible to adjust this sagging door. I'm glad I did find your video to set me straight on the function of the set screws.

Just saved us $120 callout fee!! The "clicking" noise issue at 3:40 was exactly what we had. Installer said apply 3 in 1 oil and if that doesn't work they have a minimum service charge of $120. One of the set screws was loose by about 3/4 of a turn.

Great , straight to the point, professional, informative. A good strong, yet not over presentation. I'd like a litter more lighting. Keep it going

Good evaluation Tom. I can sum it up for everyone who purchases hinges or an entire farm else's shower door or enclosure. Make sure the manufacturer/retail sale company or installation company provides you with a lifetime warranty. If they do, you know your dealing with a great company that stands behind the product they sell.

The first hinge, to my understanding, actually has a 5 degree off axis load to create a tight seal.

Thank you for the information, I wish I knew some of this information before my lower shower door metal hinge broke off altogether. Now I’m trying to find a solution. Top hinge is intact, but the bottom broke away from the metal track, as it was attached to another glass panel. Do you have any suggestions, Or an online catalog for me to ID the manufacturer of these hinges? They came with my house, made 2005, I am the second owner. Any suggestions will help! Thank you!

No. Al you have to do is open or crack the hinge to is open position,. There are 2 very small allen screws which set the pin. If they are lose or the installer didn't check them it will make a clicking sound. Over time if this is not addressed, the pin will wear out and the hinge will have to be replaced. I suggest calling the company who installed it and tell them to get over there and fix it! Good luck. Rally is a simple thing but is overlooked a lot by installers who rush or don't know.

Can anyone tell me what the smaller hex screws on the back of the hinge do? Not the screws that apply clamping force to secure the door but the smaller ones of the interior spine of the hinge? Are those to make small adjustments to the door if my top gap is smaller than my bottom? Similar to a cabinet hinge ?

The springs in the hinge eventually begin to show as the door falls from the top. They can be screwed back in, but eventually show again. Can this be adjusted of has the hinge failed requiring replacement.

I have a similar hinge on my glass shower door, but there are gaps in between each hinge, and water leaks out from there. Is there a way to adjust the hinge to make both sides closer to each other to minimize the gaps?

Great video. Man you know a lot about shower hinges. I need to replace some 20 year old shower hinges the lower hinge broke. 90 degree screwed to wall. How can I tell by looking at door in place if I need to order Mickey Mouse ear hinges.

Is it normal for a hinge to click when opening or closing?

@@MalibuGlassMI Hi - I had clicking and removed the set screw and tried to apply loctite - unfortunately applied the red (permanent) kind, so my screw stuck about 1/2 way in as I was screwing it back in. I was able to get the screw out - but think I need to replace the entire hinge. The online hinge supplier says I need to get look at the back of the hinge wall plate to determine what kind of hinge I have. But, I think this requires me to remove the door. Is it possible to remove the hinge & then replace the hinge (relying on the 2nd hinge to support the door) while the door is in place? I don't want to start unscrewing the hinge screws unless I know it's possible to remove the hinge without removing the door. Unfortunately - my installer will not come service the door because it is out of warranty & I can't seem to find anybody else who will come work on it - because of the risk of breaking the glass.
