Could y’all do a podcast on the challenges of a tubed pump vs a patch pump? Ex: where do you put your CGM in location to the Omnipod, how do you sleep with tubing? Can you sleep on infusion sets and or the Omnipod? Does this make any sense?? I hope so! I am considering going to a pump and these are my burning questions. 😂 Type 1 for just two years.

Yes it totally makes sense and thanks for the idea. To answer your questions...there's a big difference between the tubeless and the tubed pumps. The CGM can go as close as two inches from the pod or infusion site. You can put the pod and infusion sites in body locations where you do not normally sleep on. I personally use the Omnipod as I do not like to deal with tubing, but others prefer the opposite. You can put on a fake pod to see how it feels. Ask your doctor to contact the local Insulet rep to get one.

I’ll say for me (t1 for 15 years) the thing that annoys me is seeing people with orthorexia (unhealthy obsession with being healthy) using cgms to feed into an eating disorder. Type 2 diabetics, people using the cgm for health benefits outside of diabetes, im in full support of, but those who use it to enable a mental health issue is something that i cannot support. Its less about “don’t take my one cool thing” and more so about “I refuse to allow you to turn technology made for me & my people into an unhealthy trend”. I just found your podcast bc someone on the type1diabetes subreddit recommended yall, great information and wonderful to hear from doctors with personal life experience.

I'm T2D on 15mg Mounjaro with good A1C (5.7) and CGM metrics are on target. Despite this, I experience blood sugar spikes of 300 after lunch or dinner (TAR on target though). Thank you for educating me about CGMs. My awareness is sky high and I'm truly grateful. Is this something I should be concerned about? Could adding Fiasp during meals be a helpful solution or an overkill?

If your blood sugar stays high for a short period of time it is really not a big deal, if your other metrics are good. If it bothers you and they stay high longer than a few hours, then you could use fast acting insulin. Lastly, try to reduce the simple carbs in your diet, which may help with the spikes.
