Thanka guys! Point of clarity, do you always bring your long acting insulin pen with or fast acting when you are biking?

I always bring my short-acting insulin pen with me in case my omnipod falls off, which it has. It's Murphy's Law. You should always have access to fast-acting insulin. At minimum, carry a syringe so you can suck it out of your pump.

Is it possible to get dka for type 2 on an insulin pump? Does this possibility increase if you also take a sglt2?

Yes, you can get DKA as a type 2 on a pump. Typically it's someone who has had type 2 a long time and makes very little insulin on their own. And yes, SGLT2s can cause DKA in type 1 and type 2, although not very common.

@TCOYDtv good to know. Now that I got my c peptide results, I know I make very little insulin. I was diagnosed with type 2 16 years ago and got the c peptide test done earlier this year. The low end of the normal range was 1.1 and I had 1.3.

@TCOYDtv also I didn't realize until a few days ago that when I feel those symptoms of thirst, frequent urination, and extreme fatigue that I was experiencing early signs of dka. Now that I know that, I actually have experienced dka many times, at least the early stages of it.

I was unclear about how many carbs and whether to bolus for those carbs as part of the protocol for DKA and don't you need some salt if drinking water only?
