Dear sir, I love emergency medicine. (Please dont be offended. I am only telling u my genuine concern). But I have heard many fellow docs being skeptical about the prospects of emergency medicine. The common reasons they point out are- 1. India is unlike the west, so y would anyone (except for dire emergency) choose to go to a casualty when u can directly go to a super specialist. Even if we go to a casualty they will most probably refer us to a specialist. 2. Emergency med is like a traffic police that refers pts to other depts. There are so many doctors in India esp Kerala, so its easier to run a casualty with junior docs and one er specialist than to appoint multiple er specialists since they are gona refer anyway. 3.Emergency med is in a very nascent stage with only 4 colleges in India having an MD emergency course and very few places actually choosing to employ emergency specialists as such. Sir, kindly make a video on the prospects, the job satisfaction, work atmosphere of Emergency med. Whether the dept will grow into a well established dept as such or remain in its nascent stage. Kindly do add a note on higher specialisation possible, abroad opportunities, and the financial status of er docs in general. Thank u sir. I am sorry if this post is offensive. As a young doctor who really loves er I wanted someone who has years of experience in the field to let us know about the field. Kindly do make a vid if possible sir
