Great one. Thanks a lot! Would like to know, whether we can create 3D stroke in after effects? If yes, could you please do a tutorial.
@ECAbrams3 жыл бұрын
Depends. You can make any layer 3d that you want. Now, is that a stroke with depth? Not really. To make a stroke in 3d space as you would with a sweep in c4d for example is not natively possible and would need 3rd party plugins.

Thank you very much for your answer. BUT... the first vertex is at its place at the beginning of the line. Nevertheless, the Null object-Trace path starts from the middle. It's driving me crazy!!! On top of this it appears and runs outside and far away of the line.
@ECAbrams3 жыл бұрын
When you look at the motion path of the null, how does it compare to the shape layer path? Could it be some scale and position change has taken place so the movement of the null needs to be moved and scaled down to match? Or the path needs to be moved and scaled up to match? It sounds to me like something is amiss like that.
@jeroendonker2 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial! One thing though, I made some banner ads using roughly the same method of a bigger comp with paths from Illustrator moving in a smaller viewport. I animated it using only position of the bigger comp. My point is that using a camera seems a little too much, the animation doesn't need one…

When I open your file, AE says there is an effect called "Form" missing. Where can I find that?
@ECAbrams4 жыл бұрын
There's Form used in the work file? That seems like an oversight on my part. You can ignore that message and delete any instances of form you find. It has not impact on the techniques we're examining in this tutorial. it is a lovely 3rd aprty plugin from red giant. I should fix up the aep to not have any instances of that around.

A newbie question if I may. What benefit does the adding the camera/3D effect bring to the piece please?
@ECAbrams Жыл бұрын
That's what allows us to follow the movement of a thing as it moves off-screen. Otherwise, we would need to animate the "stuff" of the scene to be in the frame. When that's just one thing, it's not a big deal. But as you work up to more complex and involved scenes it is easier to animate a large scene and then animate your view of that scene.
