I actually made my own keyboard January this past year. Ironically, I got the Boba U4T silent as well. Good thing is they're 100% fine without lubing each individual switch too 👍. I like to say I type on silent crunchy leaves and I still love them. I still hope to explore making my own artisan keycaps.

I've seen a person do the case without gluing the border to the bottom by hollowing out an entire piece out of oak wood. I like your economical approach(with the frame) better. The seam won't be that visible and saves some precious wood for future projects. A+

YOU SHOULD MAKE THE LAYERED KEYBOARD SO YOU CAN SEE THE MECHANICS AS YOU TYPE! Basically putting toothpick stilts on the keys. Encase it in resin and you got a keyblock and not a keyboard. So like what you did at 1:03 but a functional keyblock;) hahah. That has E&K written all over it. As a kid I loved the 90's aesthetic of see through electronics because I loved to see the inner workings and function as you use it. So this project would be awesome to see!

Ok. This video is such a treat. First - the exploded view of the keyboard layers is such a nerdy satisfying science adjacent segment! Editing is so clear and fun. I've never been so envious of another man's wood. Question: when laser cutting thin wood, how do you keep it from warping? I just got a diode laser cutter and had to take off the light guard because the board would warp and bits would catch on the guard.

Tape the whole thing or put some of that light tac shelf paper on both sides, maybe? Would probably help prevent too much marring of the wood too. 🤔

Magnets! they hold the whole sheet. Also the paper transfer tape (amzn.to/3JhovEf) helps reinforce the wood. The adhesive backing is even better at stabilizing the shape (amzn.to/3Jh6iXm)
