Had a wheel break on our One Fast Cat. Replaced that side's wheels with skate wheels on all thread. Not near as good as Adam's fix, but it does sound quieter. Now to try the sticky carpet squares. One of our cats, who doesn't use the wheel, has been clawing up the old foam pads.

Awww, dat tongue! As an aside, an oversized dovetailed rail running along the Centreline of the base with a rail on the wheel that locks in. You could just use strips of polished lead flashing as a bearing surface where the dovetail meets the rail. Sorta like a rollercoaster, where the wheels lock under.
