Oh please do a reality show with Evander and Riddick at this gym....Talented prospects come in...Old fight stories...think of all the cameos of people that could come in and help train prospects...Tyson...Roach...again the stories...Internet media could handle a show like this now....wasn't developed enough when Sly did the Contender...Leave it just like this...Evander..Riddick and the owner operators...Add fighters...their relationships...goals..

Evander is amazing ! Probably I would say the toughest heavyweight ever in the history of boxing.
@easygrin11274 жыл бұрын
Well not The toughest.... not tougher than George Foreman or Smoking Joe or Mohammed Ali.... but him and Riddick are both up there with the greats
@joeblough2613 жыл бұрын
@@easygrin1127 Holy was way tougher than George, at least the 1st version...ain't no way anybody getting him to quit the way Ali and Jimmy Young did. But he is as tough as Ali and Joe, all 3 of them boys, there was no quit them dogs. When Ali got up from that famous Frazier left hook....or when Holy fought back and nearly got Bowe in the 10th rd. of their 1st fight, after a bunch and beating that would've KO'd just about anyone else. And honestly, Bowe showed how truly tough he was in those Golota fights, esp. the 2nd one...

Holyfield is my all time favourite heavyweight. I think he's one of the very few heavyweights from the last 50 years that could have fought and succeeded in any era, including the 15 rounders during the incredibly tough era of the 40s and 50s.

@@martinamicflyy2618 No way. Now if your talking about the 80's you would have to split it up between Holmes Tyson but in the 90's Tyson lost to Douglas, Holyfield Twice, Not sure if it was in the 90's but also to Lewis. Who in the 90's did Tyson beat for you to say it that? And mentally tough, please the mental aspect of the sport was his weakest point

Holyfield wasnt the best heavyweight of the 90s. In my opinion bowe was the best 90s heavyweight early 90s then late 90s was Lennox but when it comes to heart holyfield is in a league of his own

Two guys that realize boxing is a sport. It is an unusual sport granted where you actually trying to hurt the other guy but i love how Bowe and Holy can leave everything in the ring. The thing about these two is the didnt want to stop fighting. Watch the end of the second fight. Lewis had to tackle holyfield to keep them for still fighting after the fight was over

Tyson fought on intimidation tactics. if he walked in and started punching you without being punched he would become more aggressive. But if you stood up and punched him back he would become frustrated and easier to fight. Evander was more of a warrior. He wasn't afraid to get into a brawl. He would take and give a punch.
@DreChilly5 жыл бұрын
Right, I was always taught never ALLOW the other guy to just stand there ALWAYS throw the first punch because like he said chances are he's scared of taking that first hit and naturally he's going to revert to defense after that first punch. Evander said it best u can come in underneath and take a shot (that if they can even get it off) and come up and push off and BAM goodnight ladies and gentlemen

Funny you say that - he was in the hotel room with his wife hours before the 1st Tyson fight and for the first time ever, he started feeling a little intimidation at the prospect of how hard Tyson hit. His wife got up and sang to him, "When the Spirit of the Lord Falls Upon My Heart, I will Dance, Like David Danced" and he said he immediately felt all nerves, fear, etc. just wash away and became fully relaxed and ready to rumble.
@shanb17892 жыл бұрын
@@joeblough261 where did you hear him talking about that? Would love to see that interview

@joeblough2612 жыл бұрын
@@shanb1789 You bet. I just looked it up and I was a little off - the Fred Hammond song "When the Spirit of the Lord" was his intro music for his 2nd Tyson fight, and the song his wife played on a CD Player for him and that they danced to in the hotel room right before the 1st fight was, "Mighty Man of War". I knew this! I must be getting old or something....but the rest of the story was accurate. If you google, "Holyfield Inspired by Music and Marriage NY Times" you'll find the story detailed in the NY Times, and, then google "The lady and the champ: Evander Holyfield says God and a good wife helped him whip Tyson." has it too, and I remember reading both of them b/c of the little different details in each one. Enjoy your reading! As you can see, I'm a Holyfield fanatic, LOL.

Can anyone elaborate what they think of what was said at 2:00? Does he mean that just because you know someones bread and butter moves doesnt mean you can predict when they will do it? Or that someone who doesnt knkow their own bread and butter moves are less predictable? Or something else?
@joeblough2613 жыл бұрын
I think he's saying that the best fighters are unpredictable; they don't fall in love with the same pattern over and over b/c when you do that, people are watching tape and practicing for it and will catch you with a big shot. I've heard him talk about it a lot before re: Tyson - the very first punch Tyson threw in their first fight was a right hand after Tyson dipped, and the whole training camp Tyson would throw the left hook after he dipped so if you watch the tape you'll see Holy put up his right glove as defense and gets blasted with Tyson's right hand. He also says that when Tyson was at his best, when he was young and with Rooney, and was more disciplined and devoted to the technical aspects of boxing that he was very unpredictable and a tougher out.
