No doubt about it, Amy Lee is a special, special talent. If it were just her voice alone, she would be truly special, but add that to her songwriting skills, and her pianist chops, and it adds up to an extraordinary talent. Evanescence is one of my favorite bands. I got to meet Amy Lee several years ago. Her voice is simply amazing. Their entire catalog of music is so good. I'm currently obsessed with Far From Heaven. It's about her brother who recently died, and her struggle with faith. Her sister also died years ago.

that was the intent of the music video lol. she's playing Little Red Riding Hood and the guy is the Big Bad Wolf, hence the wolves and why they made him look kinda like a human wolf/supernatural being and why Amy had magical powers, while living with the wolf. Amy and the director came up with it and wanted a supernatural twist to that story. the behind the scenes is on youtube [: it was on MTV's Behind The Scenes ( where they show behind the scene footage before the music video premier. )

You'll be happy to know that they write all of their music themselves! There's been some lineup changes since they started, but Amy has been a part of the writing process since the bands conception.

exactly. she's definitely the main writer- lyric wise, along with piano and arrangement. ( except for 'My Immortal', which mainly was written by Ben Moody and 'Tourniquet', which was originally from Rocky's original band that upon joining EV in the making of Fallen, the band really loved the song and I think they changed it a little bit, I forget in what way, but yeah. ) plus during the writing/making of The Open Door, Terry co-wrote some songs with Amy. (they were besties and pretty sure still are) I think 'Sweet Sacrifice' was one of them, at the top of my head, but I'd have to look in the album booklet to see lol. I love really good lyrics in songs and kinda passionate about it. its one of the reasons why I love EV.

Thanks guys! Great selection and reaction! One of the prototypical 'break up' songs! She and the singer from Seether, Shaun, had broken up and alcohol was involved. Amy is amazing. But you've also heard Floor Jansen....I haven't gone through your entire catalog yet...have you heard Sharon Den Adel from Within Temptation? The genre is called Symphonic Metal. It utilizes elements of keyboards, strings and chorale layering. Nightwish uses it more comprehensively. Actually recording symphonies and full choirs as some the elements in their productions. There ist many legendary lady Rockers most everyone knows...Joan Jet, Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Joan Baez, Stevie Nicks & Christine McVie (Fleetwood Mac), Donna Summer, Janice Johnson & Hazel Payne (A Taste of Honey), Sister Sledge, Pointer Sisters, Madonna, und even Janet Jackson has rocked-out a bit. Did I leave anyone out again? :-) Anyway, I have only 4 lady Rockers who I consider Rock goddesses...Pat Benatar, Ann & Nancy Wilson (HEART), und Amy Lee.
