I think both versions are dark and gothic in their own ways. The old version sounds creepy, scary and cool. The new version sounds haunting, beautiful and emotional.
@larrylindgren94845 жыл бұрын
Yup just about right. I'd say the old version has a better dark feel to it. Adding to your creepy, scary, cool. Her vocals her are as usual amazing but the song loses to much of the darkness in this one. This is a very unrated EV song. It's haunting good:) If I were making a movie with a dark and scary undertone I'd have Amy to the sound track in a instant. She writes beautifully for can kind of feel. And with her lead vocals in her whispery pain filled voice she does so well it would be something.
@berealsupportive27443 жыл бұрын
I like this version but the original sounds the best in style, how it was sung and its missing the most remembered line.. "People die but real love is forever" The vocals here are a little sung too dainty and kind of too fast and short in spots. They are more whiney and needy in this version. I like the way it was done in the original best where it's Raw Goth Rock and roll and she tells it like it is with how it was sung. Though this is good too of course. I like the theatrical sound of it. Maybe it's just how she particularly chose to sing it that made it not match the amazing original we always can listen to over and over again.

this just further proves that she should remake all of her music, something I've been saying for a long long time, on the acoustic side. this sounds so much like the pre-fallen era, of which all we have is old demos and live versions on youtube. this style compliments her voice so much. i always liked the original version, but i never realized how beautiful it is without the scratching sound. i always thought it sounded like a quarter against the sidewalk lol. very happy she did this, and i hope there's more to come! i would die to have new versions of before the dawn, bleed (i must be dreaming), anywhere, where will you go, imaginary, exodus, lithium, etc. etc.

My mother and I were driving home in a dark night, barely any artificial lights, no one on the road at 90-100km/h with some fog, barely any cloud, lit by the moon, while this was playing, it was ethereal to hear Amy's singing with this version's instrumental along with that ride. I think it was the best night I've ever driven just because of that peaceful moment with the song.

I was listening to Evanescence last year to cope with so much bottled up emotional pain...My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in early 2017. My twin sister and I were the only ones in the family who could handle the emotional pain in caring for our father as we both had ALL leukemia when we were kids. I didn't know how deeply I loved my father until I re-listened to My Heart Is Broken... I wanted his suffering to be over and for him to finally be able to rest because he was so broken and slipping away... I wanted him to be free of the restraints his illness had on him. Thank you, Evanescence and Amy Lee. Death is not the end, but the beginning of a new journey

Love the piano on this one and the vocals.Firstly began with soft sweet vocals notes, then became powerful more dark like she is tearing her soul into, towards the end it's soften again but with more emotinal vocals and minor notes, in the end the notes naturally softly fade away like it's slowly dying... This song has been one of my favorites already, but I just love so much this edition and aura it has.
