I remember getting my first Gjallahorn from VoG, after killing Atheon - I had school the next day. My dad, being a gamer himself (then in his 50s, now in his 60s) knew how much this meant to me and allowed me to stay home from school the next day so I could play with it. I still have my original Gjallahorn to this day in my D1 Titans' inventory, along with the Iron Gjallahorn.

@@sparkymarky7504 I was one of the unlucky souls to not get it for over a year. My loadout was Fatebringer, Black Hammer/ Icebreaker and an op roled The Swarm/Hunger of crota. Even though I was mostly rejected by most raid/skolas groups cause of my lack of Gjallarhorn, I still managed to do skolas without it and even solo'd Crota as a Hunter main without it. In the end it was skill that matters and thats also the reason why I'm so proud I got my Gjallarhorn a week before Xur sold it a 2nd time from the Osiris Flawless Crate

I still consider that era from 2014 - 2017 to be the peak gaming years of my life. A full clan, people from all over the world that I talked to every day, not even knowing any gamer who didn't play Destiny. I actually got a little emotional when you started talking about Xur and showed off his very first inventory offerings. When Destiny 1 came out, it was such a beautiful and awesome game that had so many problems that would end up being fixed, but my God, are my memories of it absolutely wonderful. The game was so different back then compared to now. No one knew what all of the items were in the game. There was no website you could go to where you could just see what all of the new items were with each content release and how to get them. It was all word of mouth. I still remember going to school and my friend telling me about a new Exotic called the "Vex Mythoclast" that you could get from Hard Mode Vault of Glass. I was so intrigued and I would end up getting it through my very first run through VoG on Hard Mode. In terms of getting the Gjallarhorn, I actually got it through a Legendary Heavy Weapon Engram that I got from a Cabal Phalanx from the Valus Ta'aurc Nightfall with two of my friends. I still remember the sun setting in the Tower on Earth and me opening that Engram. This was back when 9 times out of 10, you would get either a Rare item that you didn't need, or a Legendary armor piece for another character that you had not created yet. I was really happy and excited, but I believe this was around the time when everybody, including myself were only just then waking up to the power of the weapon when it came to burning bosses. However, it still took me forever to fully level up it up to max since it wasn't that easy to do so at that time. My favorite moment with the weapon isn't really one time, but every boss that would end up being burned by me and a full Fireteam of players with it. This is only with this gun as well. I have so many memories that I can recall besides all of the great times I had with this beloved Rocket Launcher. From the Loot Cave, pushing Atheon off of the edge using AoE grenades/Nova Bomb, staying up all night when The Taken King was released, playing it, and realizing how screwed I was since I had school the following day only to do the same thing all night again to get the Outbreak Prime when it was discovered over a year later, and I will forever cherish them.

I remember when me and my team were running Vault of Glass and me and my friend had never done it before. All day he was bragging about something he found the other day, his "secret weapon" he called it. When we finally got to Atheon, we did pretty good until that last 25% health. Almost all of our team was down and it was just my friend and our Titan pinned down in the titan's bubble. I remember the Titan tried to do something and got killed. It was at this moment he said the lines that I will remember till the end of my days. Atheon shooting down the bubble, vex closing in from all sides, he said "I got this." It was like something from a movie. I saw him open his inventory and switch out his heavy weapon. He ran out of the bubble and pulled out the fabled weapon. At this point, the whole fireteam went silent. Then I hear him shoot it, 1, 2. And then the whole team cheered! Atheon fell with one guardian left and his fabled rocket launcher. We always remembered the Gjallarhorn as HIS weapon. God, the days of D1.

I got my Gjallarhorn from my very first Raid, Hard Mode VoG. I didn't know what exotics were back then, my friend invited to join on VoG and once we got to the Gorgon Chest, the fireteam let me open the Chest first. Low and behold I go the f***ing GJALLARHORN!!! My very first exotic, one of the Fireteam members said if I got the Vex Mythoclast, he would help me upgrade it. And he had to jinx it I got my 2nd Exotic the Vex Mythoclast 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I flipped almost threw my controller, my mom asked me what the hell was going on and I said I got the rarest and most powerful weapon in the game... I was legit crying.

I got mine to drop when I was doint the Vault of Glass with my old clan mates and when I killed Atheon I got the Vex Mythoclass so I freaked out and ran around my house while my aunt and uncle came into my room to see if it was true. Destiny 1 The Taken King expansion was probably my favorite time EVER. The most fun of all of Destiny 1/2's lifespan so far. The Oryxx Raid was probably where my friends and i had the most fun. Its the only raid that i grinded hundreds of times. Thanks for the memories from many years ago. You always deliver excellent quality plus entertainment. I used to grind strange coins like crazy. Remember it like it was yesterday. My step dad got me into this game for us to bond together. Played through and through for 2 years and did our raids together. VoG, Crota’s raid, all with the thought of getting this mythical weapon we both sought after. Prison of Elders is released and we hop on one weeknight after my homework and his shift to do the Level 28 PoE. He said to me at the end, there’s a guaranteed exotic. Me, being 14-15 at the time, made a snark remark about me getting it and him still hungering to get it. We finish and down we went into the bottom and open the glowing chest. The bright yellow pops up and spells out *”G J A L L A H O R N”* and I shit you not I got up and dropped my headset and ran around the house yelling GJALLARHORN, GJALLARHORN! All to my step fathers dismay. He never once got it before Xur sold it, and I still hold this over his head to this day.

Got mine doing my first ever raid; Crota’s End. I didn’t know what the weapon was. I was just like “oh I got exotic” and everyone asked and I was like “I can’t pronounce it, but it’s a rocket launcher” and everyone yelled out “Gjallarhorn you SOB!” And yes, it should come back. Every single weapon, armor, planet, strikes, raids and pretty much every bit of content and loot from day one of destiny one should be available in the destiny universe. Period.

I remember me and my fireteam back then... when we first heard of the Vex Mythoclast, how strong it was. The strength of it sounded and felt like it was of a myth in general. I miss the feel of Destiny 1. It just felt so rewarding to get an exotic and exotics actually felt powerful and somewhat gamebreaking back then. If u ask me they kinda should have cuz it was so hard to get them back then. A reward deserves to be great depending on how hard it is to get said reward. Basically a quest where you do a boss rush with a bottomless clip, extremely nerfed to deal like 1k damage a shot (but doubles after every boss defeated), gjallerhorn called the "fractured horn" and afterwards you return to xur to give him the fractured horn and see him shed a tear from the memorys and after 2 days he'll return to you with the gjallerhorn-reborn

I was one of the people who bought it, i remember my friend telling me about a vender that he found on the forums that sold exotics (xur) so we went to look and saw he sold red death. My friend was excited and bought it but I didn’t have enough strange coins. He helped me grind for more, I didn’t know he was only there on the weekends at the time so I woke up Monday and he was gone. I was bummed cuz I was unable to get the weapon. That weekend, the same friend tells me that he’s back and was going to check him out so I joined him. We see that he sold gjallarhorn and I had enough strange coins to buy it. He tells me that is would be a waste because heavy didn’t drop as much and was better to focus on primary and secondary. I told him I gonna buy it anyway because i needed a better power weapon to up my power and he tells me “your loss”

I unfortunately was a Victim of the Gjallarhorn Exclusivity for a lot of the Tougher Activities{Raids, PoE, etc.}. Thankfully. I had found a personal group that I ran with, from a friend, whom I met in a Crucible Match, and saw me Dominate it with a MIDA, and everyone was using the 2 Most abused Revolvers{You know what I'm talking about}. He even convinced them by saying I was the best Hunter Player he ever met, and was so good that me having Gjallarhorn would have held me back. He knew what combo of Weapons I was good with, and we eventually got the entire team playing around my lack of the Rocket. One day I did get it from the VoG, Second Boss{The Templar iirc}, and everyone in my Team lost it. I think I was a bit too shocked, and didn't act super surprised. Of course to give them the Happiness they earned by sticking with me. I told them I'd put it on to finish the Raid, and we did{a hour longer than normal, as I had to adapt to it a bit. Lol}. Anyway. Sorry for the Long Post. Kinda wanted to share my Story on my slice of the Gallahorn's History. I know everyone has one.

The Louster similar reaction for me, I was playing vog for the 400,000th time. We defeated atheon with practiced ease. I see gjallahorn pop up. I was like “oh cool, I got gjallahorn.” I thought I’d be the guy who absolutely loses his shit when I got it. Though I had a pretty lack luster reaction lol. Though on the wholesome side of things, I was doing VOG exotic chest carries back before they nerfed the chest. I took this one squeaker (just his voice, not his attitude and skill, he was actually pretty good. Did a couple VOG full runs with him. Bought this rocket when it was sold by xur the first time. Left it in the vault and totally forgot I had it. It was not until I got it again during a vog raid that I realized all this time, I had one sitting in the vault. But my most memorable time I had with this rocket wasn’t from my own.
