Installed it two months ago and then switched back to the original cluster. Will return to it once they fix their software b/c it sucks. Sometimes it just reboots when driving, the auto icon is not working as it should, RPM cannot be adjusted in settings for my ZHP. And most important, it gave me SES light on because it was feeding incorrect temperature data to the ECU. Once they fix it, it will be amazing. But not today.

Screen itself looks amazing, but look at how much of that original bezel is left unused. That new screen is tiny in that hole. I think they need to make a bigger version to utilise the whole space.

i’d really love to see an e90 idrive dash retrofitted into an e46. i know it’s possible with some work, but that would be a dream come true and i’d pay serious money for that. i know it’s possible someone retrofitted an e90 (granted not idrive) dash into their e46 when they did an n54 swap. but nothing would make me happier than to have a modern interior in such a beautiful modern classic bmw design. the e46 exterior is beautiful, just the interiors a bit dated

Digital tachometer seems to be scaled up to 7k rpm and the analog goes to 9K. Love my analog tacho where pointers have 3 dimensional shape.... would be interested to see you ntb mods.

Interesting video but I am partial to mechanical gauges I really hate this new trend of digital clusters it's cool that you can integrate a camera though. But the choice of the membrane keypad and ribbon cable is as baffling as it is awkward AF I can think of so many other better ways they could have done this , especially for $1000 I mean they could have included something like the rubber covered nubs that are on the OG cluster for setting time , or at least made the cable a wire and not a ribbon cable that severely limits your mounting options they could have even made an accompanying shift knob with something like the second analog stick nub on an new Nintendo 3DS that you could easily rest your right thumb on for the 4 directions and press in functions and had it either wire to the cluster or have a bluetooth connection , for $1000 they could have made it bluetooth though or maybe even used a button combo on the steering wheel that worked over the ibus like hold the unused voice button and then the steering wheel buttons activate the cluster controls instead of track and volume.

I'd buy it if it had a bigger screen, wasn't as reflective and was just as crisp or even higher def. As it stands it would be a nice cluster for a first gen Z4.

Curious about the mileage. I used your video to set the mileage on my replacement light control module. Does this unit require a match from the key and lcm as well? I'd be a little worried about buying a car with one fitted if there's no way of telling if the mileage is legit

Quite easy to mess with the mileage on the stock one as well. Doing a check like car vertical before, would provide better information, also the wear and tear is another factor. Odometers require a 10$ cable to be rewritten to any value.

@@roborovsky6950 they do but you need to be a little bit clued up. This appears to be a simple plug and play unit where you can write whatever mileage you want in right there on the unit.

@@matthewnicholas6365 on such an old car, mileage is relative anyway. If it's rust free and maintanace has been done regularly, with a looked after interior and exterior, it doesn't really matter how many miles/km it was driven for. It's gonna be a money pit anyway, they'll all need ball joints sway bars, control arms, valve seals and so on. Time is taking a bigger toll on a bmw. Most e46's in Europe are sold with ~200k kms on the clock, but further checking and 80% of those already been at that number at least once before 😅

Love this mod. But, at the end of the day, no way is this thing worth $1000 - $1700 (depending on what level you get - Basic, Standard or Premium). Hell, if my car gets totaled (God please forbid) the insurance payout is $500. My 2004 325I is in excellent shape with $127K miles so I'm keeping my money on this one.
