The box Cassette is a rebranded Sunrace cassette. I've experienced the same thing eventually they strip, but I have spares from previous worn out cassettes. But I've experienced it with Shimano xt m8000 cassette too.

Gosh, I too had so many issues with Box components, so glad you didn’t go with box four. I’ve broken 2 box four cassettes, 2 box four derailleurs, a box two-e prime 9 shifter, and a box two-e prime 9 derailleur

Swap your shifter and brake on the bars to make your brake lever position better for 1 finger braking. You’ve got the hydro brakes now, 1 finger should be plenty. You can do the same with your dropper and brake on the left side. A long time rider friend of mine showed me this and now both my bikes are setup that way and it’s so much better. The other way is from when you needed 2-3 fingers to operate brake levers. Some brakes come with short little levers for 1 finger but they are nicer/higher level brakes.

Good advice! The mt200 levers are super long so I will definitely do that. Sometimes I forget that all I need is 1 finger to brake. So used to rim brakes on BMX. Thanks for watching!

I was going to suggest the same thing. I just moved mine inboard even a little more. They are just over 1.5” in from the grips so I can get my index finger right at the little hook at the end of the lever. Anyway, another great video. Keep it up!

As you progress into more advanced parts the"If it doesn't fit force it" expression will surely put a dent in your bike and or wallet. A good general tip is to grease all parts that thread into something else and be gentle with the threads as they have a tendency to strip. This is especially true for bottom brackets. Keep at it though! Share your mountain bike enthusiasm with the world!

I was hoping to upgrade my Schwinn axum from what it is and upgraded to an 11 sprocket cassette without having to change other parts like the shifting aspects of it mechanically. I understand I might have to buy more chain but I was hoping to get away with not buying a whole new shifting apparatus.

You defenitly upgraded the correct first components. Now the bike actually is gonna perform much better, less problems, and more stable. Rest just stick with until you destroy or wear it out

what did you do with the factory axe drivetrain and you could have put the axe drivetrain on the wifebike

That drive train went in the trash. It was awful. I put a microshift advent on the wife bike.

It seems like 600 bucks is what it will take to get the Axum up to speed. The front wheel is a big downer for fork selection.

Ive looked at bikes with similar features in similar prices my friend got a salsa timberjack for 950 and its got everything you have but with one problem i feel like the rear rim is always going to brake on it.

Shimano MTB HG cassettes are the same width for 8,9,10,11 and even SRAM NX 12 speed. They all fit without any mods

Silly question but when you replace the derailier and fork do you have to replace the stock chain ring and crank arm? Or are they all independent of the other.

I just picked the 2020 Schwinn Boundary about a month ago. I've made a few upgrades $70 total with new bars, stem, and pedals. I'd like a wider range on the rear cog and I wonder if you know if the 29" wheel, hub, and 8 speed cassette from the Schwinn Axum will fit the Boundary? (not the tire) Thanks!

If it is a Shimano driver, then it should fit. I believe its called an HG driver, which is standard on almost all entry level hubs.

Yeah its an HG driver body so could even fit 12 speed with the appropriate derailleur, shifter, and chain

I might be missing something but why go through all the trouble to get all the oil off your chain just to oil it again? Couldn't you just wipe the excess oil off and leave the oil inside the rollers where is needed?

The oil from the factory is more of a preservative and not intended for bike chains. It really attracts dirt, like badly! So removing it and using the proper stuff is necessary

Yeah it did no problem. As long as your cassette is a Shimano HG, then it can go up to 12 speeds I believe. You can tell by the splines.

@@EvansMTBSaga I was told that the Schwinn Boundary has a freewheel (and it definitely does) instead of a freehub/cassette like the Axum has, so the Boundary upgrades are more complex. Might have to buy a new rear wheel. Do you know anything about this?

Oh man the factory chains come with some nasty, low quality grease that is like a magnet for dirt. That's why I clean them.
