Just put the UV2 with the 500 Snare Side. From sitting behind the kit I like what I'm hearing, but when I listen to playbacks of video recordings my snare isnt quite giving me the attack I'm looking for and I think part of that reason is because the reso head is much darker than the 300 or even the 200. And that 300 with that Genera Dry sounds amazing!! and I wonder how it'd pair with my SJC 14x7 M5 Maple snare drum

You answered your own concern about the attack it’s definitely the 500 you have on the snare side. Good for ballad sounds or low tuning not so much for articulation. In your case you could change the batter head all you want maybe a 1ply would give you your balance but most likely it’s the resonant

thanks for the video. what are your thoughts on using a drumdial? and how tight should the reso head be for a snare?

Cheers, Jonathan! We don't subscribe to the use of a drum dial, so you'd need to experiment with one to find your appropriate settings.

I don't use them, but if it works for you carry on. 😆 Reso tightness depends on the sound you want. A looser tension gives you more bottom, and a fatter snare response. Tighter will give the drum more "throw" and a crisper tighter snare response.

Seriously. Am I getting this right? That was only half of one full turn and a bit of tweaking on a few individual rods after finger tight. Is that all that is required on the resonant head?

No I like more on all my snares. I find a tight bottom gives a nice crisp pop.

Just depends on the sound you're looking for. Some people like fat and sloppy. I like tight and staccato.

Every snare is different and requires a different amount of turns to get the tension up. I recommend you tune that bottom head bad boy up high & evenly on all lugs to the same pitch.....see how it sounds.....then if you need less 'bight' or 'fast crack' from the wires .....then you just lower the tension evenly and gradually until you reach your personal desired sound.....or you can always go higher...it's all down to your personal preference. Play around with it. Hope that helps.
