In this video I show one of the processes I do to polish an acid washed fuel tank. First of all you need to decide if the tank needs sanded or if it can be polished by using multiple cuts. If you start to polish and the tank just turns black then you must sand. There is no real good way around it. But in this instance I got lucky and was able to just do a few cuts and a color.
I truly hope you all enjoy these videos and find them helpful/useful. Thank you for watching and for all the support.

I've been polishing my own truck for a long time and every time I watch you do it, I can't believe how easy you make it look and how quick you do it! You hit that dent like it's not even there, it's just amazing to me!! Looks great

Thank you kindly for the informative video Sir and your products. They work fantastic. I was trying to get lucky on a couple of super-heavily acid washed fuel tanks for a customer, however, this is the first time that when I went to cut using a 6000rpm makita that after doing a full pass (and partial second cut) the shine wasn't brought out- the tank was left all hazy, cloudy, etc some areas were shiny and polished but 95 percent just a blob of ugly cloudiness. Sorry for the long comment, I have to tackle this job and another truck of theirs this weekend, any advice would be much appreciated.

If it is super rough it will require sanding first. Then after sanding cut in small sections. Then cut in medium sized sections. Then cut in larger sections. Then try to cut as large of a section that you can and then follow it with a color. Lots of cutting I know but it will ensure that your rouge lasts the entirety that it should. Hope this helps.

Interested to know how the bottom of the tank turned out, I always have to knock down high points with sanding especially on the bottoms or else my compound drags and looks like ass

You can definitely tell the newbie weekend warriors from the active duty polisher’s! Weekend warriors want to sand everything and they strive for flawless perfection and flawless photo shoots, while the active duty die grinding or Die trying guys are trying to get down a never ending list of real world work trucks that need back out in the road like yesterday! Nothing wrong with perfection but when you deal With real world trucks and real world prices, I’m forced to take quantity over flawless quality… in my location and world it makes more sense…

Can you cut and color with a 6,000 rpm or do you need a variable speed for the color ?
@EvanStegerMetalPolishing
@EvanStegerMetalPolishing 11 ай бұрын
If you use a white or soft buff you will need a slower buffer. But if you cut and color both with orange or yellow stiffer/less rigid buffs you can definitely cut and color at the same speed of 6,000
