Definitely digging the technical aspects of these videos much more than the Dyno pulls. Thanks for the content.

This is my favourite daily tune video. The honda with no idle valve, blown diff, and broken coolant system come a close second. But connecting the exhaust to your crank case and blowing the rear main seal out is hilarious.

Those remote turbo setups will spool faster when the crankcase is over pressured. It's not spooling slower now per se it's spooling "normal" now. Those eBay catch cans without a breather essentially eliminate any sort of PCV and under boost the excess pressure actually pushes the exhaust out the manifolds feeding more exhaust gas to the turbo and accelerating spool characteristics. I had the same issue on a 3L Ford Duratec setup boosted in a Ranger I recently tuned. Cheap catch can wasn't vented and the little 5431 MFS from PTE was spooling like a stock EcoBoost and full boost was hit VERY low which was great but same issue you saw, it blew the dipstick a few times and pushed the stock head gaskets after a short time. We ended up fixing the issue and getting the PCV routed properly and the turbo still spooled great but did stretch the Rpm of peak boost a bit higher and in the end the $40 catch can "budget saver" cost the customer an extra $560 for their build after we fixed everything it caused. He was still happy and I walked away fairly impressed as the bone stock mid 2000's Duratec made 353whp and 387wtq. This is a non VVT 3.0 DOHC that originally made 181whp and 211wtq tuned with bolt ons in NA trim. It was a learning experience for me and the customer.

Went down to a tuning shop with My cousins twin 67mm Viper and his buddy with his 03 roush swapped Ford F-100. The F-100 was all put together but he was using stock ecu with stage 3 cams and a steigemeir stage 3 ported blower. Guy told him it was a pile just because it had no paint job on it. Truck was unable to be tuned because the guy was a prick saying his truck was a pile because naturally the ecu tried keeping the truck alive by dumping fuel into the cylinders. Now he went out to a guy in Kent WA. Guy told him to go with more mild cam setup and truck runs like a raped ape. Sometimes it's the tuners. Sometimes people really do have piles of junk. This 240 was no exception. Junk.

On a few of the Daily Tunes you've mentioned the target AFR being different than the actual/measured AFR. Does this difference indicate an issue, or does it really matter as long as the actual AFR is where you want it?
@ryanpot93527 жыл бұрын
It indicates a airflow error in either the MAF or SD fueling algorithm. You can 100% get the same result either with it matching or not, so its not the biggest concern IMO

spools slower because so much boost pressure is leaking past the rings, if your going to boost an NA motor gap your rings accordingly or overbore to get a tighter fit between the piston and cylinder
