I got rid of my Model 3 and bought a 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited AWD a few months ago. LOVE it! MUCH happier with it! I really appreciate that its HDA-II assists me, rather than expecting me to assist Autopilot.

Ioniq 5 has more trunk space vs the Ioniq 6 which has more rear seat legroom. So it kinda boils down to whether you are transporting humans vs stuff more often on 6 vs 5 choice.

My first EV was a 2024 Ioniq 5 AWD. I do need to stop for roadtrips due to highway efficiency, but the EA 350kwh station we use is stellar with this voltage. Also - the daily fun of the two motors is spot on and no issue accelerating at low and high speeds. I chose 5 over 6 to carry strollers and baby items around frequently.

I also appreciate the interaction with HDA rather than auto pilot. I can nudge the wheel away from say a motorcycle splitting lanes, and then it automatically takes back over when I'm back in the lane. Much better than breaking autopilot and having to manually re-engage.

I just leased one, rather than a Model 3, Elon the right wing brotard wasn’t the main factor, but it was part of the equation. Ioniq 5 is more similar to my Mazda 3 that I traded in, and my wife won’t be intimidated to drive it.

I absolutely loved my Ioniq5. I had a 2022 Limited AWD in the iconic shooting star matte grey (the same color as all the press cars). That car broke so many people’s necks as they tried to look at it. I got so many questions and compliments from people who thought it was some sort of one-off concept car. I was sad to get rid of it, but my needs changed and I needed a 6 passenger vehicle, so I traded it for an EV9.

We selected the ioniq5 over the model Y and having 4 VW Golfs before hand had no part of our decision (jk). 2022 SEL RWD Key points for us: -Wife likes the dual screen, we both like the minimal style, just enough clean buttons -Similar enough range, similar enough dc fast charge (we have only dc fast charged twice...) -2" wider in the rear seat shoulder space (car seats) -b pillar AC vents (car seats) - less harsh suspension - Alex's dB cabin noise assessment After 15k miles, our range estimate has gone up to the mid 300's with an average of 3.6-3.8mi/kwhr mid summer

My parents just purchased one over the Tesla, one glaring reason over the Tesla Y was their insurance is 3 times more for the Tesla. They are older so getting used to the car didn’t require them to relearn how to use a car using only the center screen and other quirks of Tesla.

I am now on my 4th Ioniq 5 and one to keep for a long while - 2022 SEL AWD. Arguably best bang for the buck. Got the leather, the charging indicator on the front grill, the full back set of lights, rear vents on the B pillars,.. as much as I would want! Love the car very much. Don’t underestimate the RWD though. I think if I could go back (and if the option was available as good as the AWD I got), I would go RWD for the range. In mild snow weather, the RWD was just as good - if not better - than AWD since it was much more predictable in snow mode.

@JohnCap523
@JohnCap523 Ай бұрын
@@BowlerActuary Not really. The EPA ranges are almost exactly the same. They penalize AWDs vs RWDs but if you drive the AWD right the penalty is miniscule. Normal mode disengages the front motor when not needed and auto regen optimizes efficiency without the drag penalty that 1Pedal brings. EV6 is only slightly more efficient than I5 due to slightly better aerodynamics. In fact, the guy I learned from was driving an I5 on his channel getting the same efficiency I now get from mine based on what he taught me.

If Hyundai's ccNc infotainment software with wireless CarPlay, plus a rear wiper show up in the 2025 IONIQ 5, I might buy one. Fair overview comparison but as an owner the hands on/off isn’t as big of a gap of tech as you scaled it. HDA2 removes the fatigue of managing lane or adaptive speed letting you remain engaged. I honestly don’t take my hands off the wheel which is a safe thing and occasionally prefer an occasional dodge of road debris and getting a lane change assist that I’m not often having to gently tug the wheel at prompts which now they have capacitive touch to satisfy engagement. The system doesn’t need to be on pre mapped roads or have every feature running together. Use lane keep by itself or just adaptive cruise. Paddles and mode are huge being so accessible. Can’t imagine it being a set & forget. 33:19

I love my 2023 RWD Ioniq 5 SEL. I got it about a year ago and have had no big issues. It feels spacious and clean, especially with the white interior. It's fairly quiet inside, but I'd like a little less road noise at times. HDA 2 works well, although it does bother me for steering input pretty often on the highway, which is annoying -- I don't want to have to jiggle the steering wheel when the car is already centered in the lane.

Whatever you're talking about in your narrative should be on the chart. EDIT: Wanted to also say that in the competitor comparisons I've previously heard Comfort/Size to basically be about people and cargo capacity. In this video, comfort was interpreted as ride. The problem with that is you can have a bigger vehicle with a poorer ride - then where do you place the star? I think the interpretation of ride might be more aligned with driving dynamics. Just a thought.

This shape reminded me of a big... Dodge Omni (1978-1990). Another no rear wiper, another no sale! Just passed an Ioniq 5 two days ago after the rain in the city and the saw the rear glass full of rain drops & mud... good luck backing up since there is also no way to clean the backup camera either. If automotive manufactures really sincerely care about our safety wouldn't they design and install backup camera wiper or waterjet as a standard equipment on every car since the mandatory of the backup camera became? Instead, we been given useless LED decorations or unreliable hands free driving features that are not functional in poor weather conditions which costs nothing to the manufactures in hardware since they are mostly software added to the the standard forward cameras and radars to jack up the price. I will take a rear wiper and rear backup camera wiper like the off market 3D printed CAMWIPE snap on rear wiper accessory for 2017-2021 KIA Niro that every hatch back vehicle with rear wiper & rear camera can have to see and backup safely in rain/snow/mud conditions.

I really like the direction the Koreans are going with their EVs, but Kia needs to get the EV 7/8 and Hyundai versions out ASAP. The EV6 and Ioniq 5 are too low and don't have enough cargo capacity at only 59.3 cu ft with the seats down. The EV9 is too big, ugly (styled like a refrigerator) and over-priced. The high MSRP means even with tax incentives the massive depreciation, higher registration and insurance, and more frequent tire replacement will likely negate any fuel savings vs a Telluride.
